I can't install Drupal

  • Answered
When I try to install Drupal I get this error message. Note I had BoldGrid installed earlier but want to switch.

The following errors were found :

An installation already exists at http://richardfilc.com as per our records. To re-install the application please uninstall the existing installation!

Sorry to hear you are having issues with installing Drupal on your account. As long as another installation of any type exists, Softaculous will not allow you to install another program on top of it. This would destroy the existing site and possibly improperly configure the one you are trying to install.

If you want to replace the current site with Drupal, you will need to remove the WordPress/BoldGrid site completely first.

You can install Drupal into a subfolder if you are just looking to experiment with it first. Just enter the name of the subfolder you want to create and install Drupal into on the 'Directory' field of the install form.

This is recommended so you can feel out the new program. Drupal is much more powerful than WordPress and BoldGrid, but it also has an extremely large learning curve, comparatively. I would test it in that subfolder to see if you like it and if so, then you can remove the BoldGrid installation and reinstall Drupal there for your live site.

Kindest Regards,
