Receive error when attempting to link file to WooCommerce from cpanel

When I attempt to sell a digital product with woocommerce via wordpress on a subdomain, I must copy and paste the path from my ftp directory when choosing the file that will be downloaded by the paying customer. However, I receive an error stating that the file does not exist on the server even though it has been uploaded directly into a directory. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if this is an issue with a fix.
