Welcome to InMotion Hosting! Now that you have a new web hosting account, what's next? For most users, they will have a website and they will use email addresses, such as you@YourDomain.com.

Most users fall into two categories: those users that need to create a new website, and those users that need to migrate an existing website from their previous hosting company. Regardless of which category you fit into, you'll want to review our New Customer Website Getting Started Guide.

All of our hosting accounts include email addresses. Whether you need sales@YourDomain.com or Bob@YourDomain.com, you'll find that setting up email addresses is quite easy. Regardless of whether you're creating these email accounts for the first time or they currently exist on your previous host, you should start with our Email Getting Started Guide.

Getting to Know Our System

Many moons ago, the only control panel you had access to was cPanel. cPanel is your website's control panel. This is where you can do things such as edit your files or create email addresses. What cPanel does not allow you to do however is anything billing related, such as register new domain names or upgrade your hosting account. In the past it's been required for users to call in for these types of things, however we are excited to announce that we now have the Account Management Panel (AMP) available. In a nutshell, you can think of it as cPanel helps you manage your website and AMP helps you manage billing related items on your account.

To get started with either cPanel or AMP, check out our cPanel vs. AMP article.

Hello Dmitry,

Thank you for your question. Most websites can be easily transferred by following our guide here.

Unfortunately, Webs.com does not allow you to build websites that can be transferred to other hosts; but we offer many options for building a website.

From the hundreds of options, some of the most popular are Wordpress, Concrete5, Drupal, or Joomla.

You can sign-up for Business class hosting here.

We also offer VPS, Dedicated, Reseller, and Managed hosting plans.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

Hello Anne,

Thank you for contacting us. Since this is a public forum, I removed your phone number for security purposes.

I performed some tests on the phone system, and it is working for me at this time, and there are no other reported issues. I also saw you were able to get through to Live Tech Support, and get assistance.

Are you still experiencing problems at this time?

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

I just signed up with Inmotion this morning, when I called with technical questions with pressing 2 the answer was " Sorry you have troubles. Good By!" What kind of greeting is that? My only hope is maybe because it is Sunday.

Now I am waiting to speak with someone, pressed 1 it has been 19 minutes no one is answering, I feel I made a huge mistake!

Hello Emma,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. That is not typical for someone calling into our Tech Support team. Our Management team is investigating the problem you reported.

Right now, I am showing little, to no wait for incoming calls.

We are happy to assist you here in our public forums as well. What type of problem did you need help with?

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.

We can't get in contact with our previous designer who has the administrator email.

Hello Lorrell,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problem with the password. We do have a tutorial for recovering the Administrator password. You will need to have access to the cPanel or database in order to make the change. You can also contact our live technical support department for immediate aid, but you will need to be able verify the account. We cannot post password information on the Support Center as posts are public domain.

I hope this helps to provide the information you require. Please let us know if you require further assistance.

Hello Maheswaran,

Thank you for your comment. The folder you are looking at (http://cdn.inmotionhosting.com/img/), only contains public images, and is not a security risk.

There is no need for them to be secured, and in fact they are necessary for the website to display correctly.

You can easily password protect any folders in cPanel, here is the guide.

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below.
Thank you,

I am standing by for a fix on our VPS, which is not working at all since we purchased the package. The support desk is very friendly, for the most part, but I am still waiting for a resolution to get us out of the container of doom vp101. We cannot send or receive emails since we joined your merry band here. I thought maybe if I posted, someone might escalate my problem? Ticket # 100-1836481

I took a look at your ticket and it looks like per your last traceroute, things appear to be reaching the server normally. I do see that the ticket is with our systems administrations department in which they will be able to provide you with further information as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

I'm getting a 404 page not found when going to my site's site admin... please advise on how to fix.

Hello pia,

Unfortunately we do not have your email account on file, so I can't take a look and see what type of admin you might be referring to. When you encounter a 404 error not found page, this means that the URL you requested doesn't physically exist on the server, or your CMS isn't expecting it via some Rewrite rules in your .htaccess file.

Did you recently change your WordPress URL? It could be possible that your database is storing the incorrect path to your site and that's why the page can't be found. You can typically look in the wp_options table of your WordPress database and look for the siteurl or home rows to edit the correct URL into.

Please let us know what software you're using, and what if anything might have changed right before you started running into these issues.

I am a new user. I am also very new to website development. I know how to write some html code. I have written an html file, and I have registered two domain names with you guys, but I don't know how to import my files into your system such that when I look at my domain name, it actually shows the page i wrote. You guys need to start at the beginning of how to use your system. The tutorials I have watched give very little practical user advice. They leave huge steps out. The getting started guide didn't tell me anything about how to use my domain, whether i want to use your built in tools or note.

Hello Johanna,

Thank you very much for your insight on the guide. We will take a deeper look to make it much more intuitive and easy to understand.

To help you a little, if you have created HTML files on your local computer, you will need to upload them to your hosting account for the world to see. This can be done either within the cPanel or by using FTP.

I am trying to call the customer support number but I get dropped in a que with music. I have no idea if I even have the right company. I am trying to decide if I want to move our site to your company or not. I am really concerned that when I call during business hours I am not greeted  but put immediately into hold music.

Hello Jill,

We just tried to call and were given the greeting before the hold music. We are interested in trying to find the glitch. As you may have gone a little different route than our test, would you mind providing the phone number you called along with any extensions or options you pressed?

We thank you for bringing any possible issue to our attention and wish to fix it ASAP.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
