Opencart email not working

Opencart 1.6 will not send emails to customer and customers can't use the Contact Us form. I have tried every solution posted and have performed and exhaustive Google search. I was informed that I am on a New Server. I have tried Prestashop and emails function correctly. I have spend many hours learning Opencart so I was hoping to use it. I Don't understand how it can be offered as a 1 click install if email doesn't fuction. I have opened a ticket as well including the error logs and was told I would have an answer but this was early last week and I have not heard anything from anyone. Also I have tried to use PhP mail as well as smtp to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your OpenCart. 1-click install would not have anything to do with email settings. It simply means it is an easy installer. It does not mean that further configuration is not required for different features. Were you able to take a look at our article on OpenCart email settings and see if yours are set up properly?
