Do theme updates overwrite my customized changes ?

Hello,

I'm new here and learning a lot about WordPress. I've changed the footer, header and style.css files on my Twenty Twelve theme. Whenever this theme has an update, will I need to make the same changes again?

Hello Danny, Updates to any theme, plugin, or even the core files themselves can certainly wipe out any changes you have made. For themes, you can make a child theme. This allows you to make changes without modifying the core files so that you can keep them in place. Kindest Regards, Scott M
