One email works one does not in outlook 2013, same settings

I have one email address that is setup identical on two computers all server settings are the same 143/587 for ports for servers. The only difference is that the one on my old computer that works is writing to a pst file and the new computer where the incoming email is writing to an ost file does not work. How can this be fixed without destroying data
Are you sure that the settings are exactly the same? An OST file is typically used for Exchange servers which would not be something that operates on our servers at all. You may need to fully remove the account and set it up again as a standard IMAP/POP account.
