Moodle Quickmail rejected by Yahoo and Gmail

Email sent using QuickMail for Moodle is rejected for recipients using gmail/yahoo email. The email does not even reach the Yahoo or Gmail spam folder, so users can't be asked to look there. The Moodle QuickMail is received by holders of other accounts. Plus I use QuickMail successfully on other Moodle systems. Has anyone else experienced this issue and have a resolution. It appears to revolve around the domain name.

Rejection message for email sent to Yahoo:
Receiving the Error “554 5.7.9: Message not accepted for policy reasons” when sending email to Yahoo.
Your email failed one or more of the following industry-wide authentication checks that Yahoo uses to verify emails are truly sent from the domains they claim to originate from.

DKIM (Domain-Keys Identified Mail)
SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance)

The latest authentication test that Yahoo has incorporated, DMARC, performs the following checks:

"From" address should map to the same signing domain
Mail from a domain should match the domain in the "From" header

Here's an example of a DMARC record:
v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; sp=reject; rua=mailto:[email protected].
In this example, Yahoo will quarantine emails that fail DKIM and SPF for yourdomain.com, and similar emails for sub-domains from yourdomain.com will be rejected. The aggregate report will be mailed to dmarc.report@yourdomain. Link to further explanation by Yahoo: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN7253.html?impressions=true

Hello Rob, and thanks for your question. It sounds like you might need to setup a SMTP connection in Moodle. It appears that Yahoo and Google believe your messages have characteristics of looking like spam, and this could be getting caused by the from address being sent from your cPanel server account of [email protected], or seemingly a [email protected] account, instead of an actual email account created on your domain. Please let us know if having your From: address set to an email account that exists on your domain fixes this problem for you. - Jacob
