I am interested in starting a blog. Which platform should I use with InMotion?

I have never blogged before, but I am a pretty good writer.

Hello ToniP, and thanks for your question.

The most popular "blogging" platform that you can use with us is going to be WordPress by far. Although there are many others to choose from as well, if that doesn't fit your needs.

I'd recommend first checking out our great education channel on WordPress to see if it looks like something you'd be comfortable with learning.

We also have the awesome Softaculous installer available on all of our shared hosting accounts. Softaculous allows you to install over 280 applications in just a few clicks onto your hosting account.

I recommend when you're first getting started out, go ahead and throw a couple installations of various applications into sub-directories to test out a few at once. So for example you could have example.com/wordpress, example.com/joomla, or example.com/drupal. Usually within 10 minutes in an application you'll be able to determine if it's going to work for you in the long run.

Once you've found one that seems to suit your workflow nicely, I typically recommend going ahead and uninstalling all of the applications via Softaculous. Then just install the one you've chosen to move forward with into your main document root by leaving the In Directory section blank in the install process.

Hope that information was helpful. If you run into any problems along the way or have any further questions, please let us know!

Hello ToniP,

Needs for your blog can vary depending on your needs. If you're starting from the beginning and anticipate moderate traffic, then i highly recommend with a shared server account. If you're planning on heaver traffic and you have budget to match, then you should consider the VPS/dedicated server.
