I'm trying to install Partkeepr Inventory System on a shared linux hosting and I have this error message on the installation:

"You are missing the fileinfo-library for PHP. Please install and activate it."

Hello Remus,

This is unfortunately a 3rd party program that you are trying to install on our Shared server. PHP is loaded on the server already - you might need to take a look at the version required by the software. You can also change versions of php. Here's an article on the issue:

https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/general-server-setup/how-to-change-the-php-version-your-account-uses

The error possibly requires a newer version of PHP (5.3) since that missing fileinfo message indicates a library that is by default included in 5.3. Try upgrading the version of PHP and see if you can complete the installation at that point.

If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.
