How can we create a second website?

Hi, I created a first website with wordpress. Now that is it online, I would like to create a second one (my account is supposed to support 2) as a development one. I made wordpress multi-site, thinking it would do the trick, but it is not the case... I want to be able to upgrade any addon (or even wordpress) on development to find any problem before actually updating my prod. My second domain could be a subdomain like test.mydomain.com.

However, wordpress installed itself in the /public_html directory. Is there a way to have 2 distinct subdirectory (like prod and test) and move the website to one of them? And is there a way to install a second completely independant wordpress where I could import a copy on which I could work without any risk? Any input on the "how-to" do such thing would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hello AlainL, You can certainly set up another Wordpress in a separate subfolder. Simply follow the basic installation instructions as normal. The difference is where it asks for an install directory. If you want it to be in a directory called test then type test (and ONLY test) in that field. Be sure this directory does not already exist as it is created when the WordPress installs the files. If you plan on your Wordpress site being your main site, I would suggest against moving it to another folder such as prod. It is not necessary in order to have the other one in the test folder and is difficult to move back and forth. However, if you do wish to move the primary installation, Wordpress has an article on moving WordPress within your site. I hope this answers your question.
