automatic redirect to cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi

I'm trying to setup a wordpress blog and after completing the installation procedure, I'm getting auto-redirected to /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi when I try to visit the website.

If I try to access the site by name, I can't even view .HTML files that are there, but I can if I access it by IP. Although if I just put in the IP address with no file name, I get the same redirect.

Any idea what is going on and/or how to fix this? I tried to google this and the only solution I found recommended to upgrade CPanel to an unstable release.
