create a post via email

I'm using Wordpress with the Gateway theme for a website that I manage.  I create all of the blog posts using the dashboard.  Is there a way that I can create a blog post using email?

Ultimately, I'd like a select few people to create their own posts on the website blog, but I don't want them to have the password for the entire site (I don't want them to be able to add/delete web pages, only add posts).

Thanks in advance...  Bob R

Hello Bob,

Thank you for asking us about creating WordPress posts via email. You can create a secret email account, then set it up in the WordPress Dashboard with the following steps:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Writing
  3. Enter your Mail Server (incoming server), Login Name (full email address), and Password. You can view your email settings in cPanel or Webmail.
  4. Choose a default Category for the incoming Posts.
  5. Click the Save Changes button.

Be sure to only share that email address with people you trust, since any email sent to it will automatically post.

Another option is to set up user roles to limit their access levels, then assign the users to these roles.

Thank you,

John-Paul
