Can image email attachments be down sampled without removing them from the server?

I see the "Images" add-on but can't figure out how to apply it. If I select an image attachment it opens in a new browser window. Each Message has multiple images attached as well. Can you give me a little mor guidance? I have read the documentation but can't seem to get to the attachments and the images resize menu.
