Multiple WordPress websites on WHM are downloading .php files instead of loading. Changing php version on any site is a temporary fix.

I have multiple WordPress websites on WHM and recently all sites start downloading .php files instead of loading them. If I switch the PHP version in the cPanel for any of the sites on the server they all start loading .php files correctly.

This is only a temporary fix because hours later the site start downloading .php files again. It seems like the server is disabling php and it becomes enabled again when I switch php versions. Any suggestions?

Hello Pixel Power LLC,

Thank you for contacting us about websites downloading the .php files. This sounds like it may be an issue with your PHP handler. If your problems persist, I recommend contacting our live Support Team so they can review your specific server for issues.

Thank you,
