Newbie to some technical issues

I was trying to change the URL of our website and completely got kicked out without access to the admin side of our page. Our host IT person is asking me to "confirm if I have changed the new domain's dns to: (a couple of nameservers)". I'm not understanding this lingo and need some serious, "dumb-it-down" translation!!

Hello! I'm sorry to see you're experiencing issues after changing your site's URL. A great simple way to think about name servers is using a phone book analogy. If you were trying to call InMotion Hosting you might have remembered our phone number, but more than likely you'd want to look it up before just guessing at numbers. So, like a phone book, the name servers serve the information for a domain, in order to locate it on the internet. For more information on what a name server is, you can review our Support Center article titled "What is a Name Server?". Changing a domain's name servers is done with your domain's registrar. I would advise you contact the company that you purchased your domain name through to confirm how to go about changing the name servers via their interface. For now, you can confirm the name servers that your domain is pointed to, with this third party tool. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Carlos E
