Does domain registration include DNS service?

Hello,

If I register a domain name through InMotion Hosting, does that include DNS service, or do I also have to pay a company like Dyn.com for that?  What about if I also buy hosting?  What if I already have a hosting plan with you that I'd like to use with the new domain name?

Thank you,

Joe

Thank you!  Follow-up question: If I purchase a domain name from someone else (e.g. Google Domains), I should be able to just point them at your name servers and everything will work fine, right?

Purchasing from a 3rd party registrar and pointing the domain names to our nameservers works with no problems!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your question in regards to a domain registered through InMotion. DNS is provided for a domain when you purchase hosting in addition to a domain's registration. You can point the domain by changing the name servers. When you point them to a DNS service or another host, the DNS authority is changed to that entity and they control the DNS after the change propagates.

I hope that helps to answer your questions! If you require further assistance please let us know!
