Is it possible to upgrade to the latest version of PHP?
I would like to install a CMS on my business hosting plan (http://danielcoats.net/), but I only have PHP version 5.2 and the software requires 5.3.6 at the minimum.
After editing I preview and if I am satisfied I publish. My page is visible but the body of the pages are not visible, but my website says it is. It has been this way for the last year and I am at a loss as what to do. I don't know how to upgrade my php.
How do I upgrade my version of PHP?
How can I upgrade to PHP 5?

Edit: It seems I am already running PHP 5.

Tried to update PHP to most recent version (PHP 7.4), but could only upgrade to 7.3

Under site health, I was told to update PHP to the most recent version. When I did, the most recent version I found was 7.3, but the Site Health page said the most recent version was 7.4. Where can I find a way to update to 7.4?

Thanks for getting in touch with us!

For your privacy, I have removed your contact information from your comment.

The best way to change the PHP on your site will depend on the type of account you have.

For most shared hosting plans, you would use the PHP Configuration tool in cPanel. All you need to do is select which version of PHP you want to use and click 'update'!

On most VPS accounts, you will be using the MultiPHP Manager. This works similarly to the PHP Configuration tool, except that you can more easily adjust the PHP version on individual sites without affecting an entire cPanel.

If you run into any trouble with the process, please get in contact with our 24/7 Technical Support team directly for further assistance.

Hello Abel Olayinka,

Thank you for your question regarding PHP versions. The PHP version set in the cPanel PHP Manager is specific to your cPanel and all sites within it. The server itself may be set to use a different PHP version, which can be changed from the WHM interface:

Hello. If you're on a managed VPS or dedicated server, you may need to install the latest PHP version with EasyApache 4.

Hello Immanuel,

Thanks for the question about upgrading your PHP version.  It depends on what you're upgrading and where you have access.  If you have access to your cPanel account, then our hosting servers typically support multiple versions of PHP.  You can switch versions in cPanel with the tool provided for that purpose. If you have root access and you're on a VPS or Dedicated, then you can upgrade PHP versions in EasyApache.   If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest regards,

Arnel C.

Hello Gary, Thanks for you question about updating your website to the latest PHP version (version 7.04). You can actually change the version being used in your account via the cPanel. Our tutorial shows you how to change it and you will see the latest version listed. Note that we don't actually change or update the code in your website. We provide an update to the PHP version supported on the server. I hope this helps to answer your question, please let us know if you require any further assistance. Regards, Arnel C.

Hello danielcoats, Thank you for your question. I checked, and your server is already running a version of PHP greater than 5.3.6. You can confirm this by viewing your version of PHP in your cPanel. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below. Thank you, -John-Paul

Hello OscarVeltink, We have servers that use versions 5.3 and even 5.4 of PhP. While we cannot upgrade the older servers with the new versions, we can certainly move your account to a server with a newer version. In fact, our newer servers allow the selection of 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 within your cPanel so you can choose which one you need in the future without having to move again. To move to a server with that capability, you would need to contact our support department at [email protected] with that request. Be sure to validate your account with either the last 4 digits of the credit card on file, or the current Account Management Panel (AMP) password. Best Regards, Scott M

Hi Frye, Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. If you're on a shared server, you cannot upgrade the PHP version since it could affect others on the server, however, you could request to be moved to a server running the version of php you need. You can also determine which version of php the server is running by logging into cPanel. What version of PHP am I running? If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thanks! Tim S
