Cannot send mail from Outlook 2010 on my new MAC Air

I am transitioning from PC to MAC. Downloaded Office Suite 365. Outlook works fine for incoming mail but cannot send mail. (it goes into my Outbox,) I have checked the settings, changed the default port 25 to 587, which is used successfully by my PC, and then to 465. Nothing has worked. Any ideas?
