Rearrange order of pages on website

I need to change the order of the front page of website -have tried rearranging the menu by going to appearance -menus -menu structure - update -they all appear in proper order on menus page -but when go to website -the old order is still there- said another way - am trying to change the front page to another - even went in on edit page and changed the order to 1,2,3,4 still won't arrange
I'm stumped!
