Website displays as Index list

When I open the site from the local machine it does open correctly but when I try to open it from the network it opens as index list...I have pointed the root directory of the file index.html and yet it does.

Please help

While I cannot see the exact information that you have on your site, it sounds like you may have a specific filetype defined within your .htaccess file with the DirectoryIndex value. Take a look at your .htaccess file to ensure that nothing is specifically defined there.
