phpMyAdmin inline editing stopped working

Until very recently (the past few days, I think), I used to be able to use phpMyAdmin's inline editing ability to change rows in my MySQL database tables.

Now, no matter what browser or platform I use, I have to click on the "edit" link which takes me to a new page each time, slowing down the editing considerably.

Can that be turned back on?

Hello Scott, I checked with the Systems team and they say no changes were made to affect that. I also checked on my own server which runs the same version and get the same result, I am not able to inline edit either, so I completely understand the situation from your side. We are going to upgrade the cPanel to 11.38 soon, which will have phpMyAdmin 4.0. In this version, the ability to toggle the inline editing will be on the user settings, so if you can hang in there until the update (I do not know exactly when that is) then you will be able to control that. Another option, which you can do immediately, is to install phpmyadmin into your account separately via the Softaculous tool. This will allow you to be able to control not only the version and inline editing, but all features and not have to rely on the server settings. You can find those instructions here. Kindest Regards, Scott M

Hello HorizonsWF,

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your phpMyAdmin. We are not aware of any changes made here with phpMyAdmin that would cause the cessation of inline editing. If you would please check different tables and columns to confirm this behavior it would be helpful. If you can confirm that, please reply back here and we can have one of our System Admins take a deeper look into the server.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
