error 310 after installing wordpress

  • Answered
I've installed wordpress before thru Fantastico and no problem. I am trying to install and getting the following error reading: Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects. How do I fix this?
Hello MariW,

The vast majority of the time, when you received that type of error, it has to do with the .htaccess configuration file in your account. I did look and there is a lot of code in there that could potentially cause an issue.

To test this, you can rename the htaccess file for a moment, and then attempt to install the WordPress. If it succeeds, it is the the htaccess file.

You will want to take a look and reconsider some of the redirects to see if they are necessary. In some cases, it is simply the order of the redirects that can cause an error. Debugging the htaccess is simply trial and error of moving things around, commenting, and doublechecking the code.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any more questions or information specific to the issue please leave a comment below so we can further assist you.
