Not a trusted certificate error
Good Afternoon,
I have logged into my cpanel several times successfully. Today for some reason, it's giving me a "not a trusted certificate" error. If I choose to ignore it, log off and proceed to cpanel, log off, and then log on again, the error persists.
Can you tell me the problem and how to fix it?

Apologies for the delay in answering the question. I had answered this earlier, but I noticed that it didn't appear on the site after later inspection.
I reviewed your question and then had a tier2c technician review your account. By default, VPS installations do NOT have a shared SSL that is assigned directly to the URL for the CPANEL. I had him double-check it to make sure we didn't miss anything. The behavior you are seeing is normal.
The typical URL for Cpanel for the primary domain on your account would be this:
http://optical573.com/cpanel
If you do this, then you shouldn't see the warning. As it will login without utilizing the self-signed certificate. It is also possible that you or someone else may have agreed to the self-signed certificate so that the warning didn't show again. However, if your browser cache was cleared, then it would once again warn about the certificate.
If you had used a saved URL with HTTPS in front of the address, then browser will automatically search for an assigned certificate. This will lead to the error that you're seeing.
The error occurs because there is no SSL certificate assigned for that path. You would be required to purchase one, and then ROOT-level administrator access to the server would be needed for the SERVICE SSL Certificate settings in WHM. This would allow the SSL Certificate to secure the URL so that you can use HTTPS in the path as you are most likely doing.
I hope this helps to clarify the matter. If you want an alternate solution to get to your Cpanel, the new VPS installations also use a proxy path like this: http://cpanel.optical573.com.
This should also lead you into your login screen and to the CPANEL without the certificate warnings you are seeing.
