Web Hosting .EDU subdomains

Hi,

We are considering purchasing Web hosting to set up some small sites / blogs for our college. Our EDU domain is maintained through Educause, and we maintain our main Web site on our own internal servers. We also create redirects in IIS and our routers for subdomains. If we were to purchase Web hosting service (business class hosting - pro), how could we manage the hosting in the control panel to subdomains redirected from our network?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi doo,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. It sounds like you want to host your main domain on our servers while maintaining all of your subdomains on your internal servers. Basically, to accomplish this you'd want to change your A record for the domain to point it to the IP address of the server your account is on here at InMotion Hosting.

For curiosities sake, is there a reason that you're looking to use two separate hosts (Inmotion and your internal servers)? Also, you mentioned using IIS (windows server) and I did want to mention that all of our servers run a Linux Operating System.

Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.

Thanks!
