How do I run a shell script?

I've looked into xWiki and it appears it runs on the JAVA platform which is not available in a shared hosting environment. To run a servlet such as Tomcat you'll need to be on a VPS1024 or higher. Have you thought about looking at using a PHP based wiki? Fantastico located in your cPanel supports the easy installation of two separate Wikis, such as TikiWiki and PhpWiki.
