How can I enable opcache in php 5.5 or later

I have read that PHP 5.5 or greater includes the opcache extension. To enable opcache and provide setting I would need to modify my php.ini which includes providing the path to the extension. I have looked in the /opt/php(version)/lib/php/extensions folders and not been able to find opcache.

Could you direct me to the right folder or tell what I need to do to enable opcache for my site?
