Hello tomas,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your FTP. As for not getting an answer as quick as you expected, the hours of our Question Center are posted on the question page. They are Mon - Fri, 8am EST to 9pm PST. Anything asked outside those times are answered during the next open workday.

For your FTP, of course you can assign an FTP to a specific domain. You can select the specific domain you want to assign the FTP account to from the FTP Account creation page. Accounts assigned to any specific addon domain cannot see any other folders above their root folder.

This does not apply to the main domain, however, as an account that is assigned to the main domain has access to all folders under it, including the addons, by default.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M

I still do not know how to choose different domain from the main one.

Sorry for the confusion. The primary domain for FTP is based on your cPanel user and password. It uses your domain name for the FTP URL. If you have added an ADD-ON domain, then the FTP account can be created based on that domain in your cPanel (under FTP Accounts). When you create the FTP account, it will give you a drop-down menu to select the domain. For example, let's say I have a cPanel account based on the domain I then create an add-on domain called If I were to create an FTP account in cPanel, I would have to add a NAME (I'll use "tester") for the FTP account, and then click on the drop-down menu to select the domain. The user name for the FTP account would then be "".

I hope that helps to explain it! If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Hello Tomasprochazka,

Thankyou for contacting us. This indicates there may already be a cPanel created for this domain, or the domain has been added to an existing cPanel. If this is the case, you can simply view your FTP settings in cPanel, and use them to connect. This is because it creates a limited FTP account when you create the cPanel, or Addon a domain.

If your problems persist, I recommend contacting our Live Support team, so they can test/replicate within your account.

Thank you,
