Pricing for hosting providers, and consumers that use cPanel, is changing in a significant way as cPanel introduces a new licensing structure. How will this affect you? Read on to find out.

In this article, you will get all the information you need to know about the new cPanel pricing structure and how it affects your hosting plan.

cPanel Has Changed Its Pricing Structure

cPanel licenses are now usage-based vs. unlimited. This change was made by cPanel, and it affects every host that runs cPanel on its servers–not limited to InMotion Hosting. Making an effort to help as much as possible, InMotion Hosting has been carefully considering how this price change affects you, the user, most fairly.

The pricing change will most affect VPS, Dedicated, and Reseller hosting products.

InMotion cPanel Pricing Adjustments

cPanel’s new usage-based pricing structure eliminates our ability to allow customers to host unlimited cPanel accounts for VPS, Dedicated, and Reseller hosting plans.

Prices For Managed VPS

Managed VPS hosting users will incur a base price increase of $5/month effective on renewals after January 31, 2020.

Additional fees for cPanel licenses will vary based on usage. The license costs will be added as a separate bill item appearing monthly. This billing will be in effect starting January 31, 2020. If cPanel license renewal payments fail or lapse, the your server’s cPanel license will be suspended but your hosting will remain active. If your cPanel licenses is suspended, you will be unable to use cPanel or WHM, and some of the features provided by cPanel, such as email, may stop working.

Self-managed VPS accounts remain unchanged since they do not run cPanel.

Pricing will vary based on usage:

  • 0 – 5 Accounts: Included (no fee)
  • Up to 30 Accounts: $5/mo
  • Up to 50 Accounts: $8/mo
  • Up to 100 Accounts: $15/mo
  • Up to 150 Accounts: $20/mo
  • Up to 200 Accounts: $25/mo
  • Up to 250 Accounts: $30/mo

After 250, each additional 50 accounts will add $10 to the license price, up to 2000 accounts.

Prices For Dedicated Hosting

  • 0 – 100 Accounts: $15/mo
  • Up to 150 Accounts: $20/mo
  • Up to 200 Accounts: $25/mo
  • Up to 250 Accounts: $30/mo
  • Additional 50 Accounts (up to 2000 total): $10/mo per additional 50 accounts

Prices For Resellers

Reseller hosting users will not be charged an additional fee based on usage. However, limits on cPanel accounts will be imposed.

Resellers will no longer be able to host unlimited cPanel accounts, and will instead have the following limits:

Plan Number of child accounts
r1000s Up to 25 Accounts
r2000s Up to 50 Accounts
r3000s Up to 80 Accounts

If you are on an r1000s or r2000s plan and need to host more accounts, you must upgrade to the next plan. Once you are on an r3000s plan, you can purchase additional “packs” of 20 cPanel accounts for $10/mo. These packs are billed monthly, regardless of the hosting term length. If your renewal billing fails or lapses, your hosting account will be suspended.

Resellers are limited to 80 accounts. Once you hit this limit, you must upgrade to a VPS or Dedicated server.

Shared Hosting

InMotion Hosting Shared plans (Business Class and WordPress) will not incur a cost increase.
