If anything goes wrong having a current backup of Magento can help you easily restore your store’s content. Creating a backup of Magento 1.6 is easily accomplished in the Magento Admin Panel. Log into your Magento Admin Backend Go to System ->> Tools ->> Backups Click “Create Backup“ You’ll notice in the screenshot below that we just created a database backup. The database is extremely important as this is where your site’s data (products, orders, customers, etc.) are stored.
