Managing product quantities in PrestaShop 1.6 Updated on October 9, 2020 by Scott Mitchell 1 Minutes, 57 Seconds to Read Proper stock management is needed when running a store, whether it is online or a brick and mortar building. PrestaShop offers easy management of your product’s available stock via the Quantities tab. Below is a quick tutorial on the tab and how ot works with your products. How to manage product quantities in PrestaShop 1.6 Getting to the Quantities tab Log into your admin dashboard. From the main admin screen click on Catalog and then the Products option. This leads you to the Products list page. Find the product you want to work with and click on the Edit button on the right side of the product row. You are now on the main Information screen for the product. Click on the Quantities tab on the left hand menu. Once you are on the Quantities tab, there are two sections to work with. Available Quantities For Sale The top section of the page deals with the number of items you have in stock. Most stores will be using the basic management system, which is enabled by default. Available Quantities The default setting here is “I want to specify quantities manually“. Under the radio button is a Quantity box where you need to enter the number of items you have on hand. When out of stock This selection determines how PrestShop will deal with the item if it is out of stock. It can either not allow orders, allow orders, or use the default settings for all products set in the Preferences section. Availability Settings This section tells PrestaShop how to handle the product at certain quantity intervals. Minimum Quantity This number determines how many items you need to have in stock in order to sell it. If you sell in certain quantities, such as dozens, you will need to have it set here (12, 24, 36, etc). Setting it to 1 disables the feature. This is normal for items that can be sold one at a time. Displayed text when in-stock When an item is in stock, this text displays. Normally, it says something like “In Stock” but you can change it as you desire. Displayed text when back-ordering is allowed This text will display when the item is out of stock and can be back ordered. Available Date This is a date you select from a calendar that displays the date the item will be available.
