Website Speed Optimization Service: Plans, Process, and Results

Your WordPress site loads slowly, visitors leave before the page appears, and you are not sure where to start fixing it. InMotion Hosting’s website speed optimization service hands the work to the Professional Website Services team, which audits the site, tunes it on a staged copy, and shows you a before-and-after report. By the end of this guide you will know what each plan includes, how the work happens, and what results to expect.

How a Website Speed Optimization Service Helps Your Site

The goal is a fast, smooth experience for every visitor. The team finds what slows your site down, fixes it, and measures the difference.

The Website Optimization Process

The team works on a copy of your site, not the live one. That way a change that goes wrong never reaches your visitors. The project follows four steps:

  1. Website audit and analysis: the team scans your site with industry tools to find the main areas for improvement. This scan is your starting benchmark.
  2. Optimization: developers make the fixes on a staged copy of your site and test them there. Your live site is unaffected.
  3. Final speed optimization report: you receive a report that compares the results with the initial scan, plus a link to the staging site. Test the staged copy yourself before you approve anything.
  4. Page speed improvement: after you approve, the team pushes the changes from staging to your live site. You then receive a report of the modifications and an updated performance analysis measured against the benchmark.

A project manager oversees the work and is your single point of contact. Timelines run from a few days to several weeks, depending on the project. Before you pick a plan, see what the team actually changes.

Elements Optimized for Site Performance

Speed problems rarely have one cause, so the service touches many parts of your site:

  • Software updates: WordPress core, plugins, and themes are updated for performance and reliability.
  • Plugin review: the team identifies deprecated or unused plugins, removes inactive ones, and updates the active ones.
  • Caching: the team installs and configures a caching plugin that matches your site and your hosting server.
  • Images and video: images are compressed and converted, and video files are hosted on a reliable media delivery service. The team also evaluates video Content Delivery Network (CDN) options.
  • CDN: if your hosting plan supports it, the team activates and optimizes a CDN, which serves your files from locations closer to each visitor.
  • Code delivery: the team applies lazy loading (images and other assets load as visitors scroll to them), minifies CSS, JavaScript, and HTML, and delays and defers JavaScript.
  • File combining: the team combines CSS and JavaScript files and limits requests. This may not apply to custom themes.
  • Database: the team optimizes database autoload values, the settings WordPress loads on every page.
  • Jetpack: if Jetpack is available with your hosting plan, the team activates and tunes the relevant features.

The team also identifies premium (paid) plugins and themes and may ask you for current copies of their files. If you must share a login, never send the password in plain email. Enter it in the InMotion Hosting password encryption tool, choose an expiration time, and share the expiring link with your project manager.

Website Optimization vs. Comprehensive Optimization

InMotion Hosting offers two plans. Comprehensive Optimization includes everything in Website Optimization and adds two items. Both plans target an A or B+ grade in a PageSpeed testing tool. For current pricing, visit the Website Speed Optimization page.

Preload, Preconnect, and Prefetch are browser hints that tell a visitor’s browser to load or connect to certain resources early. Core database optimization is general tuning of the WordPress database. Next, what the numbers can look like when the work is done.

What Results Can I Expect After Speed Optimization?

Results depend on your site’s starting point and setup. Treat the A or B+ grade as the plan’s target, not a guarantee. The goal is measurable gains, and your final report compares the new results with the benchmark from the first audit, so you see the change in numbers.

Note: Want to run your own check? Follow How to Test your Website Speed with GTmetrix. Different tools score the same page differently, as explained in Google PageSpeed Insights Versus GTmetrix, so compare results from the same tool.

What Happens If Optimization Is Not Possible?

Occasionally a site cannot be meaningfully sped up because of underlying constraints. If that happens, the team troubleshoots thoroughly to find out why. If it still cannot improve your site’s speed, your project manager explains why.

InMotion Hosting does not give a full refund once work has begun. Any refund is at InMotion Hosting’s discretion and is based on the work already completed, as described in the Website Services Agreement. Read the agreement before you sign up, so you know the terms. It also helps to know why speed matters in the first place.

Understanding the Importance of Site Optimization

Site speed shapes how visitors feel about your business. Faster sites tend to rank better in search results, convert more visitors into customers, drive more sales, and give people a better experience overall.

Speed can also fade. New plugins and larger images can add weight over time.

Tip: InMotion Care plans include site speed optimization and caching at different levels by tier: Advanced on Care Pro and Care Business, Standard on Care Plus, and only with annual billing on the base InMotion Care plan. That makes Care a way to keep the site fast after the optimization project. See InMotion Care WordPress Maintenance Plans: What’s Included and FAQs for the details.

Should I Change My Hosting Plan After Optimization?

Wait until after optimization. It often resolves performance problems on your current plan, so moving servers first may not fix anything. Larger sites with lots of content and media tend to run a bit slower than smaller, lighter sites.

If the site still feels constrained afterward, the team can help you decide whether a faster plan, a Virtual Private Server (VPS), or a dedicated server would help. You then choose with a clear picture of what you need. To make the change, follow How to Upgrade / Downgrade Your Hosting Plan in AMP.
