InMotion Care WordPress Maintenance Plans: What’s Included and FAQs

Your WordPress site needs weekly security patches, plugin updates, and backups to stay safe, and skipping them for a few months is how small problems turn into emergencies. InMotion Care WordPress maintenance plans handle that ongoing work for you, from security scans to uptime monitoring, so your site stays current and online without living on your to-do list. This guide covers what each plan includes, what changes are covered, and what happens if your site goes down or gets hacked.

Overview of WordPress Maintenance Plans

InMotion Hosting offers four WordPress maintenance plans: InMotion Care, InMotion Care Plus, InMotion Care Pro, and InMotion Care Business. Each tier builds on the one below it, adding more monthly edits, faster resolution targets, and more advanced features. Choose the tier that matches how critical your site is to your business.

Every plan bills monthly or yearly. Visit the InMotion Care WordPress maintenance plans page for current pricing and a side-by-side comparison of tiers. Plans are purchased through the InMotion Hosting Sales team, and every Custom Website Design and QuickSite project also includes one to three months of InMotion Care at no extra cost.

What’s Included in Your Website Maintenance Plan

Every InMotion Care WordPress maintenance plan, from the base tier to Business, includes the same core protection:

  • 24/7 monitoring with email alerts when your site goes down
  • Malware scanning
  • Weekly WordPress security updates
  • Weekly managed plugin and theme updates, with on-request updates added on InMotion Care Business
  • Regular backups, with site restore and recovery at no additional cost
  • A monthly report and a site performance report

Higher tiers add more coverage on top of that baseline. InMotion Care Plus and above include Proactive Hacked Site Repair and a staging environment for testing risky changes. InMotion Care Pro and Business add an advanced security hardening module for WordPress-specific threats and advanced image optimization (WebP and AVIF). They also offer a cookie consent banner, full website translation, and accessibility modes (Blind Mode, Vision Impaired Mode, and ADHD Friendly Mode) on demand. InMotion Care Business adds realtime backups and Advanced Core Web Vitals with Navigation AI.

Performance work also scales by tier. Site speed optimization and caching is Standard on InMotion Care Plus and Advanced on Care Pro and Business. Database optimization is included on Care Plus and above. On the base InMotion Care plan, both come only with an annual plan. Mobile responsiveness optimization is included on Care Pro and Business, and on Care Plus with an annual plan.

Note: InMotion Care Business includes realtime backups. Backup schedules and retention on the other tiers can change, so check the InMotion Care page for current details before you choose a tier.

Website Changes Covered by Maintenance Plans

InMotion Care plans cover website changes, not full rebuilds. Covered work includes content edits, CSS tweaks, plugin configuration, redirects, and form adjustments. InMotion Care Pro and Business plans also include minor performance tweaks and bug fixes.

Some requests fall outside every maintenance plan: new features, redesigns, custom development, new pages, marketing operations, paid tools, and hosting upgrades. If your site needs one of these, InMotion Hosting scopes the work separately through Dev Hours or a custom website design project. Contact the InMotion Hosting Sales team for a quote before that work begins.

Priority Support for Maintenance Plan Clients

Every InMotion Care plan sets a resolution target for downtime and technical issues, and that target gets faster as you move up in tier. InMotion Care targets 2 to 3 business days, and Care Plus targets 1 to 2 business days. Care Pro targets 24 hours including weekends, and Care Business targets the same day when possible.

Open a ticket by email or through the client portal, and the InMotion Care team works your request against your plan’s target. InMotion Care Business clients can also reach the team through Slack.

Handling Updates That Break Your Website

InMotion Care takes a backup before applying any plugin, theme, or WordPress core update, so there’s always a restore point if an update causes a problem. If an update breaks something, the InMotion Care team rolls the site back using that backup and resolves the issue at no extra cost, as long as the fix stays within your plan’s scope.

InMotion Care Plus and higher plans test risky updates on a staging site first: a private copy of your site where changes can’t reach your visitors. On the base InMotion Care plan, updates may go live directly, but always after a backup is taken.

What to Do If Your Website Goes Down

You don’t have to notice the outage yourself. InMotion Care’s automatic uptime monitoring alerts the team when a check finds your site isn’t responding, and you get an email alert too. Checks run every 15 minutes, or every 5 minutes on InMotion Care Business.

The team works to resolve the outage within your plan’s resolution target, from 2 to 3 business days on InMotion Care up to the same day when possible on InMotion Care Business. The team restores your site, often from backup, and works to identify the underlying cause so the same outage doesn’t happen again.

If Your Site Gets Hacked: Steps and Support

InMotion Care’s malware scanning flags malicious code and notifies you as soon as it’s detected. Minor malware infections are cleaned at no extra cost on every plan.

InMotion Care Plus and higher plans include Proactive Hacked Site Repair: a prompt examination and repair of the infected site as part of your plan. On the base InMotion Care plan, a severe infection may need the standalone Hacked Website Repair service.

If your site runs on hosting other than Shared Hosting, add Monarx Security for advanced, proactive malware protection alongside your InMotion Care plan.

Custom Maintenance Plans for Complex Websites

Large or highly customized sites sometimes need more coverage than a standard tier provides. InMotion Hosting can build a custom WordPress maintenance plan after reviewing your server details and site requirements.

Contact the InMotion Hosting Sales team to start that review. They’ll recommend the level of ongoing care that fits your setup.

Upgrading or Downgrading Your Maintenance Plan

Your site’s needs change over time, and your InMotion Care plan can change with them. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, and the change takes effect starting with your next billing cycle.

To change tiers, contact the InMotion Hosting Billing team.

Cancelling Your Maintenance Plan

InMotion Care plans renew automatically at the end of each term. To cancel, send written notice by email to [email protected] at least 15 calendar days before your current term ends. Without that notice, your plan renews for another term, per the Website Services Agreement.

Cancelling doesn’t affect your ownership of your website. You keep full ownership of your site and your data. Licensed tools that came bundled with your plan are removed once the plan ends.

Important: Off-site backups from your InMotion Care plan aren’t handed over automatically when you cancel. Make your own backup of your site before your cancellation takes effect.

More InMotion Care FAQs

Here are quick answers to the questions InMotion Hosting hears most about InMotion Care WordPress maintenance plans.

What do I need to get started with InMotion Care?

InMotion Hosting needs admin access to your WordPress site, hosting and staging access, DNS (Domain Name System) information for SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) records, and access to your Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager account. You’ll also review and accept an onboarding checklist before work begins.

What counts as one “task”?

A task is a small site change, such as swapping a hero image, that typically takes 30 to 40 minutes to complete. Requests that run longer are split into additional time blocks.

Are updates tested before they go live, and is staging available?

Yes. InMotion Care takes a backup, applies updates in a controlled order, tests functionality, and rolls back immediately if anything breaks. InMotion Care Plus and higher plans test risky changes on a staging site before they go live.

What’s not included, and what could cost extra?

Maintenance plans don’t cover new features, redesigns, custom development, new pages, marketing operations, paid tools, or hosting upgrades. Requests like these get scoped and quoted separately from your plan.

How do I open a support ticket?

Open a ticket by email or through the client portal. InMotion Care Business plans also get direct access to the team through Slack.

Do I get a report on my site’s health?

Yes. InMotion Care sends a monthly report covering updates, security scans, and uptime, along with a separate site performance report.

Who performs the maintenance work?

A dedicated InMotion Care team of developers and customer success staff works your tickets. You reach them by email or through the client portal.

I manage more than one website. Do I need a separate plan for each?

Yes, each website needs its own InMotion Care plan. If you manage three or more sites, ask the InMotion Hosting Sales team about a bundled discount.

Who owns the tools and licenses used on my site?

You own your website and all of its data at every point. Some premium tools included with your plan stay active only while your InMotion Care plan is active.

What’s included in my backups?

InMotion Care backups cover your site’s files, media, databases, posts, comments, and order data. The additional data backup allowance grows by tier: up to 5 GB on InMotion Care, 20 GB on Care Plus, 50 GB on Care Pro, and 100 GB on Care Business. Larger sites may need a cleanup pass or a custom backup solution.

InMotion Care Pro and Care Business offer a cookie consent banner, full website translation, and accessibility modes (Blind Mode, Vision Impaired Mode, and ADHD Friendly Mode), all available on demand. Lower tiers don’t include these features.
