Please be advised this may be a security risk to your website. You can view more information about the end of life here. In our previous tutorial, we showed you how to create a backup of your Joomla 2.5 website using Akeeba Backup. In this tutorial, we’ll discuss a bit further on where that backup file is located so that you can download a copy of it. Where is the Joomla 2.5 backup file located? In the Akeeba backup configuration page, there is a setting labeled Output Directory. This setting controls where on the server your Joomla 2.5 backups will be stored. By default, they are stored in: administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup If you changed this setting, then your backups will be stored in the directory you specified. If you have not changed this setting, then your backups should be stored in administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup. How to download your backup files While the Akeeba Backup software allows you to download the backups directly from your Joomla admin, it does not recommend it. Instead, it gives this warning: Downloading backup files through your browser can result under certain circumstances to corrupt or partial downloads and subsequent restoration failure. Are you sure you want to continue? Based upon this warning, it would be best to use ftp to download this Joomla 2.5 backup file from your account.
