You can use your Samsung Galaxy phone to check the email account for your domain hosted with InMotion Hosting. You can add multiple email accounts to your phone so you can be sure to stay connected for work or personal purposes. The steps below were taken on a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze device from T-Mobile. Your particular phone may be different, but the steps should be somewhat similar.
If you are unsure what your email settings are, you can find them with our Email Configuration tool.
Setting up Email on a Galaxy Phone
Click on your Mail icon on the front screen of the phone. If you cannot locate the Mail icon on your screen, touch the Applications icon in the lower right corner and then you should be able to find it.
If you have yet to set up an email account on your phone, you will be taken to a screen with two fields. Enter your email address in the top field and the password in the lower field. After you have entered the correct information, touch the Manual Settings button at the bottom of the screen.
You will be taken to a screen that gives you three option buttons: POP3 Account, IMAP Account, or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Select your desired setup by touching the appropriate button. For InMotion Hosting customers, you can select either POP3 or IMAP, but not the Microsoft Exchange option. We recommend IMAP for setting up email accounts on a phone, however. You can learn the difference between POP3 and IMAP protocols here.
After making your selection, you will see a page that asks for several fields of information.IMAP Settings

Delete email from server
This field has two settings for removing email from your server automatically.

Once you have entered your settings, touch the Next button found at the bottom of the screen.
Your phone will now check the incoming settings with the server to ensure they are correct and that it can connect. Once it has been confirmed, you will be taken to the next screen.
This screen is your Outgoing Server Settings screen and will be the same whether you use POP3 or IMAP in the previous step. There are a few fields on this page which are important for sending mail through our servers.
SMTP Server
Unless you have a custom third party SMTP server, you will simply use the same server name as you did for POP3 or IMAP settings.
Port
The port number used to converse with the server. The port number will be determined by the security type selected below.

Once you have set the Outgoing settings, click on the Next button to continue.
This screen is the Account Options screen. This asks for a couple of last minute details about the frequency of checking emails and whether you want a notification when new email arrives. As always, click the Next button when finished.
The last screen is the Set Up Email screen. Here you will give the mail account a name. This name is just an identifier used on your Android phone. You will also be asked for the name you want to display on outgoing emails. Once you have completed this task, click on the Done button and you are all set to send and receive email using your Samsung Galaxy phone!

I am trying to set up my email on a Samsung Galaxy S10 & followed the instructions. Keep receiving the following message: Couldn’t verify account, pop3.jimlanders.com isn’t responding. I was able to successfully log into webmail so I know the password is correct. I used the settings found in my email account.
If you’re using an InMotion Hosting account, then the URL used for POP3 is not correct. We use a different format to reference the account. You may need to add it manually. If you’re using a different service then you will need to ask them for either alternative or the proper email server setting. InMotion typically uses mail.your-domain-name.com or secure-server#.inmotionhosting.com (for the secure version of the mail server).
Following these directions, I cannot get my email setup on my new Samsung Galaxy S9. The error received:
“Couldn’t verify account. A security connection error has occurred.” You don’t recommend any, so I just selected SSL. The ports you show are the ones the phone selected by default, i.e. I didn’t have to change them.
I have no idea what to do next, to solve the problem.
Email settings that you would use in an email client, such as your smartphone can be found here. You will need to specify those settings in your phone if you’re going to select SSL.

I recommend reviewing your outgoing or SMTP settings if you are experiencing issues sending any emails. You would need to refer to your device manufacturer’s documentation to do that. Otherwise, you can try to remove and re-add the email accounts that are not working properly.
I’m trying to setup email on my Galaxy S 6 phone and am getting the following error message, ” An incorrect username or password has been entered, or POP3/IMAP access is not turned on for this account. Check your acount settings or contact your service provider.” I have tripple confirmed my UN/Password and when I have gone into the cPanel I’m not seeing where I can turn on the POP3/IMAP.
Ensure you are entering the full email address for the username, including the @ symbol. As a test, try logging into WebMail. This will verify if IMAP is working since it is just an IMAP client.
If your phone is on wifi, turn it off and try to connect over the cellular network and vice-versa. This will rule out network issues.

I am trying to set up the email for my new Samsung Galaxy S8. A couple of them went okay, but not the more obscure one that is hosted by AOL, but is “[domain redacted].com.” I’ve tried doing it per your directions above. Set it up in like how it works in my Samsung tablet. I even tried setting it up the way it worked in my now no longer used iPhone 6. Still no luck. I’ve used it with [domain redacted].com and the aol.com. (They’ve both been used in my other devices.) I’ve tried it with smtp and imap. I’ve tried it with all the security types available. I’ve tried it using none. Any other suggestions?
Incidentally, my 20+ year old aol emails worked just fine.
The domain you mentioned appears to be pointing DNS to AOL. I advise checking to see if they recommend different login parameters than the ones listed above.
An “authentication failed” error typically is caused by an incorrect username or password. I recommend double-checking your email settings for typos/misspellings. You can view your email settings in cPanel at any time.
If your problems persist, I recommend reviewing your mail logs for additional clues or record of the transmission.
So a few things, port 993 is reserved for SSL. The host name you are using is not over HTTPS (ded1919.inmotionhosting.com) so you want to change the port to 143. Also the authentication error usually means the password/email doesn’t match. You’ll want to verify you are using the correct password for the email account you are connecting to.
I’ve had email set up for 3 years now but have never been able to set up/see the SPAM folder on my phone. See it on Outlook but not on phone. Any thoughts?

As a test, you can try using a different email client on your phone. There are quite a few available in the Play store.
If your problems persist, I recommend contacting yahoo to see if they can help you review your mail logs for additional clues (since your email is not hosted on our server I cannot access the logs).
I have an S7 and I am trying to add my hotmail account to the standard Email app.
Adding Gmail was fine, addint my hotmail to the outlook app was fine, but when i add my hotmail account it remains on the screen saying “Checking incoming server setting” and does not proceed pass that.. just wondering whats going on?

If you are certain that your settings are correct, you will want to contact hotmail/outlook support. Also, see if you can set up from any other devices with the same information (other phone, tablet, desktop). If so, then the issue is with the phone. If not, then it is in the information. Either way, that is good info for the support team when you contact them.

I finally upgraded to a Galaxy S4 from the original galaxy. On the original galaxy, there was an option for “SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)” using port 465 for the outgoing server. This option does exist on the G4.
On the G4, the options are
TLS(Accept all certificates) port 587
and
SSL (Accept all certificates) port 465.
One would assume that the G4 is using TLS over SSL, but who knows. In any case, I cannot connect to verizon with the security options given. I’ve tried switching ports from 465 to 587 and vice versa.
The username and password suggestions are just blowing smoke. There is an issue with security type and ports on the G4.
An “Authentication failed” message typically means your username, or password is incorrect. I recommend checking them for typos or misspellings. You view your email settings in cPanel.
As a test, try to log in to webmail with your username and password. Be sure to use your full email address as the username.

Apologies with the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. This feature is usable only with the Microsoft Exchange mail server which we do not use or support. If you are hosting with a service that uses it, then you may need to speak with their support to determine why you are unable to configure.

I just about went insane trying to set up my two Gmail accounts on the Samsung email app after Verizon Message+ somehow screwed the accounts up. I did three factory resets, cleared all of my Google backup data on both accounts, and emptied out my Verizon backup files online. Nothing worked. I setup to received mails and that works fine. Problem i have is everyday or sometimes during the day when I refresh my e-mail the old maild disappear from the phone and is not shown in the previously read mails either.

Be sure you do not have another device also set to check your mail using POP3. POP3 will remove all the emails from the server and download it to that device. Then, any other devices will not see those emails.

If you are testing on your phone network, are you able to check via wi-fi? If you are using wi-fi, have you tried over your phone network? This will rule out a network block.
Also, try alternating your settings. For example if you are using the non-SSL settings, try the SSL settings instead. This causes your phone to use different ports, and can clear up issues.
If your problems persist, it may be easier to contact Live Support at the time you are testing, so they can review the mail logs for issues.

Had a similar problem where Galaxy s3 worked fine but s5 would not authenticate. Found that I needed to put my full email address as user name in incoming and outgoing on S5 but on S3 this was not necessary. Also used company domain on email address but used gmail as domain on incoming and outgoing server information. Thank you for your hint as to what “authentictaion failed ment” This clued me in to trying to fully define the user name in S5 even though my old phone works fine without it. Hope this helps someone else.
I’ve had this exact problem. My password is correct as I’ve logged in through hotmail.com via chrome with no issues but anytime I try an set up the same email I get “Authentication Failed”. I’m on a galaxy s4
Unfortunately we have not found any other reason for that error message to date. We have tested on a full lineup of galaxy devices up to the Note 4 and have not had that issue. It is always the username or password as long as the proper server names have been entered. Check the username to ensure it is the full email address as well. Sometimes just the first part is entered and that can cause issues.
I have been able to set up a gmail and hotmail email account on my ZTEMax Android phone but not my work email. I have tried multiple usernames, domains, server names and port numbers but always get the response “‘Unable to connect to server’ (3011)” . There are several things to check when this happens.
Make sure your domain did not expire. Your expiration date is listed in the public WHOIS record.
Since I have seen clients drop/change settings, double check your email settings for any issues, or mispellings.
Check with your host to ensure they did not modify your account. For example they may moved you to a new server, or changed your email password if it appears to be compromised, or spamming.

An update on my issue, my email is working on my S5 now, I’m using IMAP w/o any security. Not sure if this is the wise thing to do, but it works. BTW I am using Blue Mail and it seems to be pretty robust so far.

I had the same problem with Camille. User name is grayed out so i had to delete and create a new one. Outgoing went smoothly, but im still getting this error for incoming: “Unable to connect to Email server to verify your account information. No response from server.” Mine is pop3.

Hi, I am having trouble with outgoing mail on an S5. Incoming works fine, and I noticed that the outgoing folder on the server shows my test emails in the outbox, but they are not going out to the recipient. I am using IMAP w/o security.
If your ISP is blocking port 25, simply change your SMTP port number to 587. If you are then able to successfully send email, you know port 25 was blocked.
I have gone through all the steps to send and receive emails I have the email page there but cannot receive any emails I have 2 email accounts the other is {removed} and cannot receive emails on either account I am trying to set up skype but am unable without being able to receive an email from them.
Are you getting any specific error messages upon setup? Or did the phone seem to set up fine but you are not seeing any incoming mails? Do you have any other devices connecting to these email accounts? Are they set up as IMAP or POP3?

Since you are connecting without SSL (security off, port number 25), try connecting with the secure settings as a test. If your host has cPanel, you can view your email settings at any time.
If your problems persist, I recommend contacting your host to ensure those are the correct connection settings for email. They can also review the logs for connections from your phone, while you are trying to connect.
I am having issue setting up my Outlook 365 Enterprise account on my Samsung Galaxy S5. [email protected]. My email is administered through my company. We also utilize Sharepoint, which I tried using the Sharepoint name for the domain, then my email. I tried just using the ixxxxcxxxxxxxsxxxxxxxx.com\[email protected], then the 365 PW. I then used outlook.office365.com for my Server SMTP Address. I cannot find where to change ports within the configuration menu, so I leave it at the default SSL (995 I am assuming). When I try these settings I continuously receive an authentication error. Would my administrator have to allow this device to sync with my Outlook 365 Account? am I missing something?
995 is the normal SSL port, and you should not normally have to have anything changed on the server in order to sync, however you may want to check on that. Since the error is an authentication error, that is either a server name, username, or password issue. You will want to ensure those are correct as well.
I also have a note4 and I think I can help. I cannot speak as to the requirement of your host to have the username as the full email address. That is the case with us here at InMotion, but if your other phone is set up the same way, then that is also likely in your case.
As to your grayed out username and email address. I see that when I manage the account and click on ‘Incoming Settings’. Mine is also grayed out. To correct that information, you will need to remove the account from the phone and then recreate it. As long as you have set it up with IMAP, you will be fine. If you set it up with POP3, however, you will lose any emails that were downloaded to the phone. However, you should be fine there since you are having issues connecting, there should not be any emails for that account on the phone.
To delete the email account, tap the Emails icon on the phone. Then tap the three bars next to the word ‘INBOX’ at the upper left corner. Next, tap the ‘Manage Accounts’ option at the bottom of the screen.
You should see the account you want to work with in a list. Touch and hold the account you want to delete for about 2 seconds. You will now be on a similar list but your chosen account should have a check next to it. Tap on the trashcan icon in the upper right and then confirm the deletion. That will remove the email account from your phone.
Now you can start again and add the account. You will be able to enter the full email address as the user during this process.

I finally got my outgoing mail set up. It works fine. But my incoming won’t authenticate. It turns out that it is set up like this:

So I am assuming that I need to fix my username and change it to my full email address as is stated above and as it is set up in my old phone. But those two areas are greyed out and I can’t get to them to edit. I can get to all the other fields

Sorry to hear that you’re having problems setting up emails on your Galaxy S5. I didn’t have a Galaxy on hand to test with, but I did have a new Galaxy Note 4. They both use the same type of email client. When you specify the Security type – IF you are using the SSL version, make sure you specify SSL (Accept all Certificate types). Otherwise, it will never authenticate. If you choose NOT to use SSL, then you wouldn’t have this problem either. If you need to see all of the appropriate email settings for your account using SSL or not using SSL, please see How to find my email settings.

my s4 using 1and1 exchange was working perfectly until a day ago. All my contacts, email and calendar synch smoothly. But now have had problems so deleted the accoutn and attempted to set as new, but when i use set up using exhange server on s4 for email setting i get “unable to connect to server ” problem. I recommend double checking your email settings with 1&1, or possibly contacting them to ensure there is not a server problem, or lapse in your account billing.

Can I ask has ANYONE here managed to configure SquirrelMail to work on their email client on their phone, I have no problem with every other email account I am using. It is purely SquirrelMail that refuses to work. I am aware I can access it via my phone browser but I am looking for this account to integrate with my email client…If not the default Samsung client then I am willing to download and try ANY email client.
Unfortunately, the webmail clients aren’t quite made for mobile access. Your best solution would be to set up the account on your phone using IMAP as described in this article.
I just figured this out. I was having the same problem as others setting up email on my Galaxy S4. Here’s how to fix the problem.
1. Look at the IMAP server field where your email address will be generated as imap.email address.com.
2. CHANGE the word imap to the word mail.
3. Do the same for the outgoing email field of SMPT (when you get to it).
4. If needed, look in cPanel to see what ports to use. Mine for IMAP (incoming mail) is 143 and SMPT (outgoing mail) is 25 (you may need to manually change this).
5. Make sure as stated in the above directions to use your full email address in the email address field as well as the Username field.
By adding these additional instructions to it. This is what I did when I couldn’t get my email on my G-S4 the first time around. Unfortunately when a field populates people tend to trust it but in this case some of the information needs to be changed! Here’s what I did to fix the process for my G-S4.

2. CHANGE the word imap to the word mail.
3. Do the same for the outgoing email field of SMPT (when you get to it).

Thanks John Paul, I was aware that I could access SquirrelMail via my browser, that is the way I am currently using it, on a laptop this is fine but I was looking to access it via the email client on my phone as opposed to the web.
As I mentioned above, you can access your email via the client on your phone, by viewing your email settings and following the setup guide above.
If you set your Samsung phone up as IMAP, it will see the exact same emails you see in Squirrel mail.
Since you are getting the error “Unable to connect to email server to verify account information. No respose from server” most likely your hostname is incorrect, or your phone network is blocking the port. I recommend comparing those settings to the ones in cPanel.
If your problems persist, it may be easier to contact Live Support, so they can assist you with setting up email on your Samsung phone.

Can SquirrelMail actually be used via a mobile at all? As I have read that it is purely a webmail client and is only intended to be accessed through a web browser. If so, is their any other client that can be used to access my SM account.

Have you tested the non-secure ports to see if they work? If so, it may be a port blocking issue with the provider, though why they would block secure ports is beyond me. Still, it is a good test.
You may also want to contact Live Support and have them walk through you the troubleshooting for you.
When I attempt to set my Samsung to use SMTP over TLS I keep getting a message ‘checking outgoing server settings…’ and the a message ‘Setup could not finish server doesn’t support TLS’ I then attempt to use SMTP over SSL and I get a message ‘Unable to safely connect to server…. could not validate certificate signature’

Thank you for your question. If you are using the Shared SSL settings for email, you may get a validation warning due to it being “Self-Signed.” It is safe to use the shared SSL, and you can also purchase an SSL for your specific domain, if want to avoid this warning.

That is correct. Anything that you typed into the phone in order to get the email setup on your phone. We would want to know ALL of the items that you typed into the phone.

I am trying to set up my email on a Samsung Galaxy S10 & followed the instructions. Keep receiving the following message: Couldn’t verify account, pop3.jimlanders.com isn’t responding. I was able to successfully log into webmail so I know the password is correct. I used the settings found in my email account.
If you’re using an InMotion Hosting account, then the URL used for POP3 is not correct. We use a different format to reference the account. You may need to add it manually. If you’re using a different service then you will need to ask them for either alternative or the proper email server setting. InMotion typically uses mail.your-domain-name.com or secure-server#.inmotionhosting.com (for the secure version of the mail server).
Following these directions, I cannot get my email setup on my new Samsung Galaxy S9. The error received:
“Couldn’t verify account. A security connection error has occurred.” You don’t recommend any, so I just selected SSL. The ports you show are the ones the phone selected by default, i.e. I didn’t have to change them.

Email settings that you would use in an email client, such as your smartphone can be found here. You will need to specify those settings in your phone if you’re going to select SSL.

Ensure you are entering the full email address for the username, including the @ symbol. As a test, try logging into WebMail. This will verify if IMAP is working since it is just an IMAP client.
If your phone is on wifi, turn it off and try to connect over the cellular network and vice-versa. This will rule out network issues.

I am trying to set up the email for my new Samsung Galaxy S8. A couple of them went okay, but not the more obscure one that is hosted by AOL, but is “[domain redacted].com.” I’ve tried doing it per your directions above. Set it up in like how it works in my Samsung tablet. I even tried setting it up the way it worked in my now no longer used iPhone 6. Still no luck. I’ve used it with [domain redacted].com and the aol.com. (They’ve both been used in my other devices.) I’ve tried it with smtp and imap. I’ve tried it with all the security types available. I’ve tried it using none. Any other suggestions?
Incidentally, my 20+ year old aol emails worked just fine.
The domain you mentioned appears to be pointing DNS to AOL. I advise checking to see if they recommend different login parameters than the ones listed above.

So a few things, port 993 is reserved for SSL. The host name you are using is not over HTTPS (ded1919.inmotionhosting.com) so you want to change the port to 143. Also the authentication error usually means the password/email doesn’t match. You’ll want to verify you are using the correct password for the email account you are connecting to.

If you are certain that your settings are correct, you will want to contact hotmail/outlook support. Also, see if you can set up from any other devices with the same information (other phone, tablet, desktop). If so, then the issue is with the phone. If not, then it is in the information. Either way, that is good info for the support team when you contact them.

Verify your username and password are accurate, by logging into yahoo mail with them.
Ensure you are setup to use IMAP or POP3 protocol on your phone.

I finally upgraded to a Galaxy S4 from the original galaxy. On the original galaxy, there was an option for “SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)” using port 465 for the outgoing server. This option does exist on the G4.
On the G4, the options are
TLS(Accept all certificates) port 587
and
SSL (Accept all certificates) port 465.
One would assume that the G4 is using TLS over SSL, but who knows. In any case, I cannot connect to verizon with the security options given. I’ve tried switching ports from 465 to 587 and vice versa.
The username and password suggestions are just blowing smoke. There is an issue with security type and ports on the G4.
Review your email settings to confirm they are accurate.
If you are on wifi, turn it off. If you are not on wifi, try and connect using it.
If your problems persist, review your mail logs for additional errors or record of your connection.

Apologies with the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. This feature is usable only with the Microsoft Exchange mail server which we do not use or support. If you are hosting with a service that uses it, then you may need to speak with their support to determine why you are unable to configure.

I fixed my issue in a strange way.
I just about went insane trying to set up my two Gmail accounts on the Samsung email app after Verizon Message+ somehow screwed the accounts up. I did three factory resets, cleared all of my Google backup data on both accounts, and emptied out my Verizon backup files online. Nothing worked. Obviously this was a major pain, as I had to reinstall all of my apps and re-do all of my settings.
Almost by accident, I tried verifying my Gmail account info in the Samsung email app while I was using 4G instead of being connected to my home wireless network. It suddenly worked.
I have no idea why being on my network was keeping me from setting up my Gmail accounts. I was having no issues whatsoever with my home network: all other apps and my laptop were connecteing to the internet just fine. I had spent hours searching the web for solutions, none of which worked. It was insanely frustrating.

Be sure you do not have another device also set to check your mail using POP3. POP3 will remove all the emails from the server and download it to that device. Then, any other devices will not see those emails.

Thank you for contacting us. First, I recommend confirming your email settings are correct, then there are several test you can perform.
If you are testing on your phone network, are you able to check via wi-fi? If you are using wi-fi, have you tried over your phone network? This will rule out a network block.
Also, try alternating your settings. For example if you are using the non-SSL settings, try the SSL settings instead. This causes your phone to use different ports, and can clear up issues.
If your problems persist, it may be easier to contact Live Support at the time you are testing, so they can review the mail logs for issues.

Had a similar problem where Galaxy s3 worked fine but s5 would not authenticate. Found that I needed to put my full email address as user name in incoming and outgoing on S5 but on S3 this was not necessary. Also used company domain on email address but used gmail as domain on incoming and outgoing server information. Thank you for your hint as to what “authentictaion failed ment” This clued me in to trying to fully define the user name in S5 even though my old phone works fine without it. Hope this helps someone else.

I’ve had this exact problem. My password is correct as I’ve logged in through hotmail.com via chrome with no issues but anytime I try an set up the same email I get “Authentication Failed”. I’m on a galaxy s4

Unfortunately we have not found any other reason for that error message to date. We have tested on a full lineup of galaxy devices up to the Note 4 and have not had that issue. It is always the username or password as long as the proper server names have been entered. Check the username to ensure it is the full email address as well. Sometimes just the first part is entered and that can cause issues.

I have been able to set up a gmail and hotmail email account on my ZTEMax Android phone but not my work email. I have tried multiple usernames, domains, server names and port numbers but always get the response “‘Unable to connect to server’ (3011)” . The tables above were very helpful but I keep getting this response. Any suggestions?

They may be using custom, or alternate settings based on their specific server configuration.

An update on my issue, my email is working on my S5 now, I’m using IMAP w/o any security. Not sure if this is the wise thing to do, but it works. BTW I am using Blue Mail and it seems to be pretty robust so far.

Thank you for contacting us. Often ISP’s block ports, specifically port 25. Out guide Problems Sending Mail – Receiving is Fine goes into more detail.
If your ISP is blocking port 25, simply change your SMTP port number to 587. If you are then able to successfully send email, you know port 25 was blocked.
If you still have problems, change to your SSL email settings.

Thank you for contacting us. It is possible that the ports you are using are being blocked on your network.
Since you are connecting without SSL (security off, port number 25), try connecting with the secure settings as a test. If your host has cPanel, you can view your email settings at any time.
If your problems persist, I recommend contacting your host to ensure those are the correct connection settings for email. They can also review the logs for connections from your phone, while you are trying to connect.

I am having issue setting up my Outlook 365 Enterprise account on my Samsung Galaxy S5. [email protected]. My email is administered through my company. We also utilize Sharepoint, which I tried using the Sharepoint name for the domain, then my email. I tried just using the ixxxxcxxxxxxxsxxxxxxxx.com\[email protected], then the 365 PW. I then used outlook.office365.com for my Server SMTP Address. I cannot find where to change ports within the configuration menu, so I leave it at the default SSL (995 I am assuming). When I try these settings I continuously receive an authentication error. Would my administrator have to allow this device to sync with my Outlook 365 Account? am I missing something?

995 is the normal SSL port, and you should not normally have to have anything changed on the server in order to sync, however you may want to check on that. Since the error is an authentication error, that is either a server name, username, or password issue. You will want to ensure those are correct as well.

I also have a note4 and I think I can help. I cannot speak as to the requirement of your host to have the username as the full email address. That is the case with us here at InMotion, but if your other phone is set up the same way, then that is also likely in your case.
As to your grayed out username and email address. I see that when I manage the account and click on ‘Incoming Settings’. Mine is also grayed out. To correct that information, you will need to remove the account from the phone and then recreate it. As long as you have set it up with IMAP, you will be fine. If you set it up with POP3, however, you will lose any emails that were downloaded to the phone. However, you should be fine there since you are having issues connecting, there should not be any emails for that account on the phone.
To delete the email account, tap the Emails icon on the phone. Then tap the three bars next to the word ‘INBOX’ at the upper left corner. Next, tap the ‘Manage Accounts’ option at the bottom of the screen.
You should see the account you want to work with in a list. Touch and hold the account you want to delete for about 2 seconds. You will now be on a similar list but your chosen account should have a check next to it. Tap on the trashcan icon in the upper right and then confirm the deletion. That will remove the email account from your phone.
Now you can start again and add the account. You will be able to enter the full email address as the user during this process.

Thanks so much in advance for any help. I am having a lot of difficulty getting my email set up in a Galaxy 4 Note I bought today. I know all of my settings, they worked perfectly this morning in my LG-MS770.
I finally got my outgoing mail set up. It works fine. But my incoming won’t authenticate. It turns out that it is set up like this:
Email address: c******@***************r.net
Username: c*********
So I am assuming that I need to fix my username and change it to my full email address as is stated above and as it is set up in my old phone. But those two areas are greyed out and I can’t get to them to edit. I can get to all the other fields
Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I solved this by downloading a different email client. It is called “Nine.” Using this app for email I was able to connect to my exchange account.
So I think the problem may be with the email client that comes with the phone (in my case the Galaxy Note 4).

Make sure you are using your full email address as your username, including the ‘@’ symbol.
Your password is secret to you, but if you do not know it, you can reset it in cPanel.

Sorry to hear that you’re having problems setting up emails on your Galaxy S5. I didn’t have a Galaxy on hand to test with, but I did have a new Galaxy Note 4. They both use the same type of email client. When you specify the Security type – IF you are using the SSL version, make sure you specify SSL (Accept all Certificate types). Otherwise, it will never authenticate. If you choose NOT to use SSL, then you wouldn’t have this problem either. If you need to see all of the appropriate email settings for your account using SSL or not using SSL, please see How to find my email settings.

Samsung S4 and Exchange server settings.
my s4 using 1and1 exchange was working perfectly until a day ago. All my contacts, email and calendar synch smoothly. But now have had problems so deleted the accoutn and attempted to set as new, but when i use set up using exhange server on s4 for email setting i get “unable to connect to server ” problem. Can someone kindly help, advice step by step, I contacted 1and1 but they cant seem to find an issue as they there servers are ok

Can I ask has ANYONE here managed to configure SquirrelMail to work on their email client on their phone, I have no problem with every other email account I am using. It is purely SquirrelMail that refuses to work. I am aware I can access it via my phone browser but I am looking for this account to integrate with my email client…If not the default Samsung client then I am willing to download and try ANY email client.

Unfortunately, the webmail clients aren’t quite made for mobile access. Your best solution would be to set up the account on your phone using IMAP as described in this article.

I just figured this out. I was having the same problem as others setting up email on my Galaxy S4. Here’s how to fix the problem.
1. Look at the IMAP server field where your email address will be generated as imap.email address.com.
2. CHANGE the word imap to the word mail.

4. If needed, look in cPanel to see what ports to use. Mine for IMAP (incoming mail) is 143 and SMPT (outgoing mail) is 25 (you may need to manually change this).

By adding these additional instructions to it. This is what I did when I couldn’t get my email on my G-S4 the first time around. Unfortunately when a field populates people tend to trust it but in this case some of the information needs to be changed! Here’s what I did to fix the process for my G-S4.

As I mentioned above, you can access your email via the client on your phone, by viewing your email settings and following the setup guide above.
If you set your Samsung phone up as IMAP, it will see the exact same emails you see in Squirrel mail.
Since you are getting the error “Unable to connect to email server to verify account information. No respose from server” most likely your hostname is incorrect, or your phone network is blocking the port. I recommend comparing those settings to the ones in cPanel.
If your problems persist, it may be easier to contact Live Support, so they can assist you with setting up email on your Samsung phone.

Can SquirrelMail actually be used via a mobile at all? As I have read that it is purely a webmail client and is only intended to be accessed through a web browser. If so, is their any other client that can be used to access my SM account.

Thank you for your question. You will have to access Squirrel Mail in a browser, which you should also be able to do on your phone’s browser.
Since Squirrel mail just connects to your email account via SMTP, you can connect your phone with the same settings.
You can view your email settings in cPanel at any time.

Thanks for your reply, Scott. I have tried everything…been on remote admin from ATT and Samsung, went to the Samsung rep at Best Buy, started in safe mode…and it also doesn’t find my basic, one month old Plantronics bluetooth…trying to swap back my old phone now.
I get the same messages with my new Note 4, I have copied the same configuration as my S4 and desktop Outlook.
Is there an issue with activating those ports (993 and 465) on a new phone?
I have tried everything and I am fairly comfortable with settings like this…and I am just copying the same settings that work on my GS4 from yesterday.

Have you tested the non-secure ports to see if they work? If so, it may be a port blocking issue with the provider, though why they would block secure ports is beyond me. Still, it is a good test.
You may also want to contact Live Support and have them walk through you the troubleshooting for you.

When I attempt to set my Samsung to use SMTP over TLS I keep getting a message ‘checking outgoing server settings…’ and the a message ‘Setup could not finish server doesn’t support TLS’ I then attempt to use SMTP over SSL and I get a message ‘Unable to safely connect to server…. could not validate certificate signature’
I followed your instructions to the dot (port is 465 for TLS and for SSL, server is the secure server, etc.,)

Thank you for your question. If you are using the Shared SSL settings for email, you may get a validation warning due to it being “Self-Signed.” It is safe to use the shared SSL, and you can also purchase an SSL for your specific domain, if want to avoid this warning.
