UltraStack Cache – Advanced Configuration Options

UltraStack cache advanced options

Configuring the UltraStack cache includes many options that are normally considered advanced. The advanced options for the cache are accessed through a link at the bottom of the Cache Manager page. The options available with the advanced section let you fine-tune how NGINX caching works. Follow the steps below to learn about these options and how to use them. These features are also built into the WordPress VPS hosting plan.

How to Access the Cache Manager Advanced Options

  1. Login to the cPanel
  2. Scroll down to the Software section.
  3. Click on Cache Manager.
  4. In the Cache Manager, scroll to the bottom of the screen. Click on the link labeled Show Advanced Options.
Show Advanced Options

Description of the Advanced Options

  • Proxy Protocol – use HTTP or HTTPS; only use when an SSL certificate is installed.
  • ModSecurity Response Cache time – Cache refresh time for requests stopped by ModSecurity 406 error
  • 404 Error Cache Time – Cache refresh time for hits that return 404 error
  • Bypass Cookie – This is a list of strings that can be used to trigger a bypass of the cache. This normally used with WordPress pages that should not be cached. This may also apply to plugins or a non-WordPress CMS
  • Max Requests Per Minute – Set the number of requests per minute allowed to access rate-limited URLs; setting the option to zero will disable it
  • Enable Gzip Compression – Compress response via gzip; this will set the gzip compression to the selected level
  • Accelerate static content – This allows the NGINX Cache to bypass the Apache webserver directly in order to serve static content; Disable for WordPress multi-site or another application with dynamic routing
  • Static Content Path – List URLs that should be served directly by NGINX; add paths by clicking on the “+” sign
  • Force Passthru Path – List URLs that should always be forwarded to Apache; add paths by clicking on the “+” sign
  • Error page – Specify a customer user-created page to display if the server encounters a 503 (service unavailable) or 504 (gateway timeout) error

Congratulations! You can now set the Advanced options for the NGINX cache in an UltraStack configured server installation. For more information, please see our UltraStack Education channel.
