A project is where you can manage a live or staged instance of a WordPress website. InMotion Central makes it easy to manage and develop multiple sites in separate projects. You can build a site and do not have to pay for hosting until your clients are ready to go live. Save time and money by testing and building separate instances in staging environments without disturbing your live sites. Some of the other benefits of creating a project with InMotion Central are the ability to perform free backups of your projects using the Total Upkeep plugin and create “Snaps” that include a group of pre-built plugins that you can quickly implement on any project site. You can also save time by moving a copy of existing sites to InMotion’s Managed WordPress platform in minutes and deploying updates right from InMotion Central without having to log in to the WordPress Dashboard. Create a New WordPress Site Project Login to InMotion Central. Click the +New Project button. Enter a Project Name then click the Next button. Select New WordPress then click Next. On the next screen you can choose your starting point. Here you can decide if you want a plain WordPress site or what is known as a Snap. A Snap is a bundle of WordPress plugins that can be installed for a specific purpose. You can choose a pre-made one or create a new one from scratch. These are the available options:• I’ll decide later – Choose this option if you want a plain WordPress installation, great for building a website from scratch.• Professional Design System – This Snap includes a page builder with an advanced theme along with other tools for creating forms, managing site cache, or even building an eCommerce store.• Easy Website Builder – This Snap will install website builder plugins designed to help you create a professional website quickly.• Personalized Selection (WordPress Snaps) – If you are planning to create multiple websites, you can choose this option and build your own Snap. You can then re-use the Snap with other WordPress setups in the future. This can save you time by automatically the themes and plugins you use the most. Once you’ve made your selection, click the Install button. You will then see a message stating “Awesome! Install In Progress. We’re installing your preferred set up. It’ll be done in less than a minute. We’ll show you a notification when it’s done. In the meantime, head over to your Project dashboard and check out your new features.” Click the My Dashboard button to return to the main InMotion Central page. You will see a “Finished Configuring” message on the bottom right when your new project is ready. Click the Open WordPress button to access the Admin Dashboard for the site. Transfer a Site Into a New Project Login to InMotion Central. Click the +New Project button. Enter a Project Name then click the Next button. Select the Site Transfer option then click the Next button. Enter Your WordPress URL in the available field then click the Next button. It will then locate your WordPress site and ask you to connect with a Username & Password or Connect Plugin. In this example, we are selecting the Username & Password option (the recommended method) then clicking the Next button. Enter your Username and Password then click the Next button. Your project will attempt to connect to the WordPress installation. Click the Transfer Site link when you see a message stating “Successful WordPress Central Connection!”. The project will then be connected to your website. You will see a Finished Configuring link in the bottom right of the screen. Click the Open WordPress button to access the Dashboard for your project. Create a Project to Manage an Existing WordPress Install Login to InMotion Central. Click the +New Project button. Enter a Project Name then click the Next button. Select the Manage Existing WordPress Install option then click the Next button. Enter Your WordPress URL then click the Next button. On the next screen choose how you want to connect then click the Next button. Options are Username & Password (Recommended) or Connect Plugin. For this guide we are using the recommended method of Username & Password. Enter your Username and Password then click the Next button. Your site will then be connected to the project. Click the Personalize button on the next screen to continue the setup. You can then choose a Snap option if you want or you can decide later. Click the Install button. Your new project will then be connected to your existing site and the setup will begin. You can click the Projects link to return to the main page and you will receive a notification once the project setup is complete.
