Creating a local folder in Thunderbird

You can create a local folder in Thunderbird to archive messages from the server. This allows you to reduce disk space used by an e-mail account on the server and helps to prevent resource usage issues when using IMAP.

  1. Thunderbird-local-create

    Right-click on Local Folders and select New Folder…

  2. Thunderbird-new-folder

    Give your new folder a name

  3. Thunderbird-move-to-local

    OPTIONAL:

    Select your messages to archive

    Right-click and choose

    Move To > Local Folders > Your folder’s name
