Upcoming Move of Secondary Nameserver Updated on October 8, 2020 by InMotion Hosting Contributor 1 Minutes, 7 Seconds to Read In the upcoming weeks, we will be moving our secondary Nameserver, ns2.inmotionhosting.com, to the East Coast. Or goal with this move is to increase redundancy by having our two Nameservers physically separated. Part of the process during the move will be assigning a new IP address for ns2.inmotionhosting.com. For most customers, this will not necessitate any changes. However, if your Nameserver entries at your registrar include the IP address, you will need to update the IP address for ns2.inmotionhosting.com at your registrar to the new IP: 70.39.150.2 This change will officially take effect on January 15th, 2012. If you need to update the IP address of ns2.inmotionhosting.com at your registrar, please do so on or after January 15th, 2012, before January 30th, 2012. We are taking steps to ensure that even if a customer needs to make the above change, but doesn’t, that requests to the old IP for ns2.inmotionhosting.com will still be handled. When the change over is made, queries to ns2.inmotionhosting.com will be answered by both IP addresses (both servers) for two weeks. This will allow time for us to monitor any requests made to the old IP for ns2.inmotionhosting.com and notify customers that still need to update their Nameserver records. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
