The support department will be more than happy to change the main domain name on your account for you. You must have already registered the domain name that you will be switching your account to. If you haven't already registered the domain name, domain registrations through InMotion Hosting are $11.95 per domain per year.

Please note that the CPanel software was not designed for the main domain name to be easily switched around. For example, if your main domain name was domainA.com and you wanted to change it to domainB.com:

Email

  • All of the email accounts created for domainA.com will turn into domainB.com accounts. You@domainA.com will now be You@domainB.com. If you still needed You@domainA.com then you will need to add domainA.com to your cPanel again as either a parked or addon domain name and recreate the email account.

Files

  • If domainB.com was an addon domain name and all of the files were located in public_html/domainB, you will need to reupload the files back to public_html.

Subdomains

  • All of your subdomains.domainA.com will turn into subdomains.domainB.com. For example, sales.domainA.com will now be sales.domainB.com. All subdomain names will need to be recreated if still needed.

The previous main domain name on the account will be removed. If you still needed that previous main domain, you will need to log into your CPanel and add it as either a parked or addon domain name. Once the domain name has been changed, you will log into your cpanel via http://domainB.com/cpanel instead of http://domainA.com/cpanel

To have the main domain name on your account switched, please send an email to support@inmotionhosting.com with the following information:

  1. Your username
  2. For security purposes, either your current AMP password or the last 4 digits of the current credit card on file.
  3. The domain name you would like set as the new main domain name

Hi BigCee,

Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you. I'm a bit confused at what you are trying to do. You say you created a subdomain, but are you trying to re-direct it to your main domain? Can you explain a bit further what you want to accomplish so I can assist you further?

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

Hi TECHSERVICES,

Thank you for posting your question/ concern. I'm more than happy to assist you. You'll need to contact our support department and they can correct the issue. You can call via the phone or submit an email to support@inmotio nhosting.com

If you submit an email it will be necessary for you to verify the account by providing the last four digits of the credit card on file or the current AMP password. Also, please let us know your current cPanel username or current domain name so we can locate your account.

Also, be sure to provide us with the domain name you want to change to. Since you said you created the account today, we should be able to cancel the current domain with the registrar and register the new domain name.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

Tim S
