Shared Servers Updated to cPanel Version 126 – Roundcube Larry Theme Removed

Shared Servers Updated to cPanel

We’re happy to share that we’ve successfully updated cPanel across our Shared hosting server fleet from version 118 to version 126. This update brings important security enhancements, performance improvements, and software updates to help keep your hosting environment modern and secure.

As part of this update, you may notice that the Larry theme is no longer available in Roundcube Webmail. We’ve received a few questions about this change, so here’s what you need to know.

Why Was the Larry Theme Removed?

The Larry theme was removed from Roundcube by cPanel because the original developer no longer maintains it.

When a theme is no longer actively maintained, it can fall behind in compatibility, usability, and security standards. To ensure a stable and secure experience, cPanel removes unsupported components during major version updates.

Since Larry was officially deprecated in newer versions of Roundcube, it is no longer included in cPanel versions 122, 124, 126, and later.

Because we updated directly from version 118 to 126, the removal may feel sudden, but it was part of the changes introduced in the versions released between those updates.

What Theme Is Available Now?

Roundcube now uses the Elastic theme as the default and fully supported interface.

Elastic offers:

  • A modern, responsive design
  • Improved mobile compatibility
  • Better accessibility support
  • Ongoing maintenance and updates
  • Continued security improvements

Elastic is actively maintained, helping ensure a smoother and more reliable webmail experience.

Can the Larry Theme Be Restored?

At this time, the Larry theme cannot be re-enabled on Shared hosting servers. Since it has been fully removed from newer Roundcube releases and supported cPanel versions, it is no longer available within Webmail.

Please do not attempt to manually install Larry theme files in Roundcube. Since the theme is no longer supported by cPanel, manual installation can cause compatibility issues, errors, or future update conflicts

What Changed Between Versions 118 and 126?

Between cPanel versions 118 and 126, multiple updates were introduced, including:

  • Security enhancements
  • Performance improvements
  • Software updates
  • Removal of deprecated or unsupported features

You can review the official release notes for additional details:

These updates help ensure your hosting platform remains secure, stable, and aligned with current software standards.

What This Means for You

  • Your email accounts and messages are unaffected.
  • Only the appearance of the Roundcube interface has changed.
  • Elastic is now the supported and standard theme moving forward.

We understand that interface changes can take time to adjust to. If you have any questions about this update or need assistance configuring email clients, such as Gmail or Outlook, our Technical Support team is available 24/7 and ready to help.
