How to configure Gmail to access your email
Written by Brad MarkleIn this article, we will show you how to set up Gmail to check your email account hosted with InMotion Hosting.
Not all, but some of our customers appear to have difficulty in forwarding email to Gmail accounts, and it appears to be related to a spam filtering mechanism within Google. It is still possible to read mail from an account hosted with us inside Gmail without the use of forwarders.
Please note:
Gmail's official documentation on this process can be found on th following page:
To do this, you'll first have to ensure that you have removed the forwarder directing mail to Gmail and have created this account as in your cPanel as a standard email account.
Next, you'll want to open Gmail in another window and click on the Settings button in the top right area of the page, this will bring up various options within Gmail.
Click on the Accounts and Import link at the top of this area, and in the location marked Check mail using POP3, click the button labled Add POP3 email account.
This will begin a wizard to walk you through importing mail from other accounts (including your cPanel account).
Please fill out the following fields appropriately to ensure that this successfully imports mail:
user@domain.com
Enter your full email address, all lowercase.
Password: ********
Enter your email address password
Server: mail.domain.com
Be sure to replace domain.com with your actual domain name.
After successfully adding your account, you can refresh Gmail and it will pop your newly added email address.
