FTP Basics
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, and is used to upload and download files from your hosting account.

To connect to your account via ftp, you need the following information:

FTP Host yourdomain.com The FTP host is based on an IP address. You have several options for your FTP host, and all will work the same. You can use:
- yourdomain.com
- ftp.yourdomain.com
- biz##.inmotionhosting.com
- the IP address of your server
FTP Username userna5 Your FTP username is also your cPanel username. userna5 stands for your cPanel's username.
FTP Password ******** Your FTP password is also your cPanel username's password. If you ever reset your cPanel password, you are resetting your FTP password as well.

Example:

If your domain name is domainABC.com, your cPanel username is domain5, and your password is 123456, you would use the following login credentials:
FTP Host domainABC.com
FTP Username domain5
FTP Password 123456

Please note:

Passive Mode:
If you are having trouble connecting via ftp and you have the option to enable passive mode, please try doing so. Passive mode is a security related setting, and if you are behind a firewall, you may need to use it.

Port 21:
The default port for FTP traffic is 21. In most FTP programs, this is the default setting and you do not need to specify port 21. In any event that you are asked for a port number, enter 21.

FTP Clients:

To connect to your account via FTP, you need to use an FTP client. There are many free FTP clients available, such as Filezilla (Windows and Mac) and Cyberduck (Mac). The exact steps to configure each FTP client vary. For more information regarding setting up common FTP clients, please see the following page:

Hi CarlPugh,

Thanks for posting your comment. Typically, fillable fields will not show up in a printed copy. I would suggest printing it out and writing the fields in if you wish to keep a printed record of your passwords.

I hope this helps! If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

Thanks!

I try and make a printed copy to fill in my information and lots of the information doesn't print. What is the problem?
Print preview shows all the information.
It would be nice to print passwords on paper so they would be safe.
