Magento 1.6 includes a backup tool that will back up your hosted Magento database. Backing up your Magento 1.6 shopping cart regularly is extremely important since your database stores all of your content for your web store. If anything goes wrong having a current backup of Magento can help you easily restore your store’s content. Creating a backup of Magento 1.6 is easily accomplished in the Magento Admin Panel.
- Log into your Magento Admin Backend
- Go to System ->> Tools ->> Backups
- Click “Create Backup“
You’ll notice in the screenshot below that we just created a database backup. The database is extremely important as this is where your site’s data (products, orders, customers, etc.) are stored.
