In this article, we will teach you how to install new 3rd party Koken themes. After completing this tutorial, you will be familiar with installing both premium Koken themes as well as many other free Koken themes that are available.

Downloading your Koken theme

To install any 3rd party Koken theme, you will need to first download the theme files to your computer. Themes are available at several places. One emerging location that you may obtain themes from is Koken Addons in which you may get both premium and paid themes from.

Once you have found a theme you like, whether it be from Koken Addons or another 3rd party, you will be prompted to download a zip file. Be sure to save it to a location on your computer that you will remember. We will need it to upload later.

Uploading your new Koken theme

Uploading a new Koken theme is a fairly simple process. In this example, we will use the cPanel File Manager, but you may use any method that you like such as FTP if you feel more comfortable going that direction.

  1. First, you will need to log into cPanel

  2. Once you are logged into cPanel, select the option for the cPanel File Manager.

  3. Next, you will need to browse to your theme directory. Any themes are located inside /storage/themes. For example, if you have Koken installed on your primary domain, you will want to go to /public_html/storage/themes

  4. Now that you are in the correct theme directory, you will just need to upload your zip file that you downloaded previously into your themes directory. To do so, click Upload to the top of the page, browse for the file, and upload it.

  5. Now that the file is uploaded, you will need to extract it. Simply right-click on the file, and click Extract. Be sure to add a folder name to the end in the next dialog box so that cPanel will create a new folder to extract the file into like the example in the screenshot to the right. Once the extraction is complete, you will be ready to activate your new Koken theme.

Activating your new Koken theme

Activating your new Koken theme is the same process as changing to any other Koken theme right within your dashboard. If you would like more assistance in changing your Koken theme within the Koken back end, the following article will walk you through the process
