Newly featured in Prestashop 1.5 is the ability to run multiple stores from the same back office. This allows you to have multiple stores and keep the data completely separate, even if you have customers that shop at more than one of your stores. You can have different pricing, customer histories, etc. To enable this function in the PrestaShop 1.5 back office, simply follow the instructions below.

Enabling the multistore option in PrestaShop 1.5:

  1. Log into your PrestaShop 1.5 dashboard.
  2. Using the top menu bar, hover over the Preferences tab and select the General option.
  3. From here you will see the Enable Multistore option. It is disabled by default. To enable it, simply select the radio button labeled Yes.
  4. Click the green Save icon in the upper right corner once you are finished.
  5. This now enables your PrestaShop 1.5 back office to manage more than one store! Below you can see how enabling the multi-store option gives you a brand new option under the Advanced Parameters menu.

Hi, if you could provide advice on the following:

With using Prestashop multi store. Would this work in the scenario where i have one code base of prestashop and deploy multiple web stores on multiple domains. Each webstore would need their own admin login and only see their products, customers etc but when there is an update i only need to run that on a sigle instance.

1.)What would be the maximum number of web stores to safely run off this configuration?2.)Does each store created share a single DB or does it provision multiple DB instances for each store created?3.)How would creating web stores in various languages work with this configuration or would it have to be one language across all stores and a separate instance provisioned to cater for another language?4.) I believe each store can configure their own template logo etc. Is that correct? 5.) Can additional web stores only be provisioned on sub domains i.e. , or can an entirely new domain also be linked i.e. in conjunction with sub domain

Hello Daryn,

Multi-shop can run multiple virtual stores on different domains. It does use the same core files and database, though each site can have it's own customer base and product list. However, to do what you are asking, you would need multiple instances of Prestashop for the different domains.

Kindest Regards,
Scott M
