joomla-3-robots-settingsThe next Joomla 3.0 Metadata setting we will look at is the Robots setting.

This setting will allow you to set the meta robots tag, which controls how search engines will crawl and index each of your pages.

Example meta robots tag:

<meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow" />

To change your Robots settings in Joomla 3.0

  1. Log into the Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard
  2. In the left menu, click the Global Configuration link
  3. Under the Site tab, find the Robots setting (refer to the screenshot at the top of this page)

    The following settings are available:
    Option Resulting meta tag
    Index, Follow No robots meta tag is added.

    Index, No follow
    <meta name="robots" content="index, nofollow" />

    <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow" />

    index Tells a search engine whether or not you want them to index the contents of this page.
