When you are creating a Wordpress website, there may be times when you need to allow a user to access to the Dashboard. An good way to accomplish this is to create a new user. In this tutorial we will show you how to manually create a new user from the Wordpress Dashboard.

How to Create a User:

  1. Login to your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click the Users link in the navigation menu, then click the Add New button.

  3. Several blank fields will then be available, fill them in as needed. Below is a brief description of the options.
  4. OptionDescription
    Username

    Enter a username in this field. They will use this username for logging into the Dashboard.

    E-mail

    Enter an email address for this user.

    First Name

    Provide a First name to be associated with this new user.

    Last Name

    Provide a Last name to be associated with this new user.

    Website

    You can enter this persons URL here if they have a website.

    Password

    Enter a password for this user. They will use this to login to the Dashboard.

    Send Password?

    Check this box to send an email summary of this account, to the address you entered in the E-mail field.

    Role

    From the drop-down menu choose a role for this user, Wordpress describes the roles as:
    Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features.
    Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
    Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
    Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
    Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
    Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.


    After entering your selections click the Add New User button.

    You will then see the new user listed on the Users page:
