Why use SSDs?The main advantage of using an SSD is its performance. Since there are no moving parts, access and reading times are much faster than you would find in a non-SSD hard drive. Since data can be accessed faster, then websites are faster when using SSDs.
When will SSDs be available?InMotion Hosting is now using SSD drives in our newest shared and reseller servers. If you’re a new customer, you can sign up for an SSD hosting account now! Within the next few weeks, all of the servers will be migrating to SSD drives over the normal End-of-Life(EOL) cycle for each server. This means that not all of the servers will be immediately replaced with SSD drives. The update process will gradually occur throughout a period of time.
Migrating to a Server using SSDIf you want to migrate to a server using SSD drives, we can accommodate your request depending on the current migration volume and availability of hardware.
Please note that newer servers are running MySQL 5.6.17 and PHP 5.4 by default. If you are going to migrate to a newer server, then you should verify that your website is compatible with these versions before proceeding. Alternate PHP versions may be available using the PHP Configuration options within the cPanel. If you wish to move your account to a server using an SSD, please send a verified ticket via the Account Management Panel (AMP). The request should be titled “Request for move to an SSD server.”
