Are there any hidden charges?

No, we will not charge you for anything without your prior consent. To avoid service interruption, hosting plans and domain registration charges will automatically renew on their renewal dates. We notify all customers of upcoming scheduled payments prior to renewing services.


How long will it take to set up my account?

New hosting account purchases are activated the same day, typically within minutes of purchase. Standard Dedicated Server configurations can take 1-2 hours, while custom Dedicated Server configs can take up to 1-2 business days to complete deployment.


What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal. Payments by check or money order must be mailed to our mailing address. Checks must be in US dollars and made payable to InMotion Hosting, Inc. We do not accept cash.


Can I upgrade my hosting plan at a later stage?

Yes, all accounts can be upgraded. Upgrades will happen the same business day. Upgrades to custom dedicated server configurations can take up to 1-2 business days.


When I upgrade, do I have to pay a setup fee again?

No. Setup fees (which are waived on all year long sign-ups) are one time fees.


How will you invoice me?

All accounts renew automatically. For customers paying by check or who request notice before billing, invoices are sent via email.


Do you put banners or pop-ups on my web pages?

No. We never change or tamper with your website.



What are your hours of Technical Support?

Phone, email, and chat support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.


Do you have an online control panel?

All of our Shared and Managed hosting services include cPanel control panel at no additional cost. We also offer Cloud and Bare Metal hosting services with no control panels included.


What kind of servers do you use?

All of our servers are 100% Dell PowerEdge servers with CentOS operating systems. Depending on the primary function, the machines will have between 16-96GB, 4 to 40 processors, and 6-35 hard drives.


Do you monitor your servers?

Yes. Administrators monitor our servers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.


Do you backup my website?

We offer multiple solutions for securely creating automatic backups of your websites. Backup Manager is available to most hosting services for just $2/mo and gives you the tools to automate your backups and up to 10GB backups storage, with additional backups storage available as low as $1/mo for 10GB. Other backup solutions include live and scheduled server Snapshots on select VPS hosting services.


Can I use your web hosting services if I own a Macintosh Computer?

Yes. You can use your favorite Macintosh-compatible Web-authoring tool and use an FTP application to make your changes.


Do you offer Microsoft FrontPage Extensions?

Due to support for Microsoft FrontPage being discontinued in 2006 by its distributers, we no longer provide FrontPage Extensions. However, Frontpage is capable of publishing via FTP, which we fully support.


Do you allow adult content on your servers?

We do not allow adult content. This is described as pornographic material. We do allow certain types of artistic material. Please contact support if you have further questions.


Do you allow telnet / SSH access?

Yes. SSH access is available on all of our hosting services, including: Business Class, VPS, Reseller, and Dedicated Servers.


What kind of database access do you provide?

Our shared hosting plans allow for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite access. We do not offer MSSQL or Microsoft Access Database.


What Operating System do you use on the servers?

Our servers currently run CentOS 5.x or CentOS 6.x, depending on the server. Our VPS systems are powered by Virtuozzo with CentOS 6.x.


What version of PHP do you use?

We currently offer PHP 5 and PHP 7. You have the ability to choose between PHP 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, and 7.1.


What version of Apache do you use?

We use Apache 2.


What version of MySQL do you use?

We currently run MySQL 5.x by default.


Can I use Active Server Pages (ASP) on my site?

No. We only use Unix Servers. ASP requires Windows Servers.


Can I use Java Servlet Pages (JSP) on my site?

Due to resource requirements, we currently only support JSP on VPS and Dedicated platforms by request.



Can I purchase a domain name with InMotion Hosting?

Yes. You can order .com,.net,.org,.biz and .info domain names for $15.99, at the time of signup. You get full ownership of the domain name for 1 year. Learn more about domain names here.

If you want to purchase a domain name with a different extension, we suggest you purchase it from a 3rd party program, and set your nameservers to:

Then, at the time of sign up, choose 'I own this domain' and continue the order process.


Can I purchase a domain name without purchasing a hosting account?

Yes, you can. You can purchase com,.net, .org, .biz, .us and .info domain names. Click over to claim your domain and enter the domain you would like to purchase. If it is available, you can purchase it, with or without a web hosting plan.


Search Domains


I already have a domain name. How do I point it to my new account?

In order to point your domain at our servers, you should contact (via phone or their website) the company who sold you the domain and ask them to modify the nameservers to reflect the following information:

I've changed my domain name servers over, and my site is not coming up. How come?

Once you have changed the nameservers for your domain name, it takes anywhere from 24-72 hours for your domain name to fully propagate over to our servers. However, in the mean time, you can access your website via a temporary url. (http://servername.inmotionhosting.com/~username). If you experience any other problems with your domain, please contact support.


Can I purchase more bandwidth?

Do you offer a shopping cart?

Yes, we offer PrestaShop, Magento, and OpenCart on all Power and Pro hosting accounts, just to name a few. Additionally, you are able to install any 3rd party shopping cart that you wish.


Do you offer merchant accounts?

We do not offer Merchant Account services. However, you may obtain a Merchant Account from any service provider of your choosing to use on your website with InMotion Hosting.


Do you offer web design?

Do you offer a website builder tool?

Yes, InMotion Hosting offers a full featured website builder called BoldGrid. BoldGrid features drag and drop editing, free modern themes, support for ecommerce, and much more. A free version is available in cpanel for install on most plans, but a premium version is used as the foundation for our Website Creator solution, which is our easiest way to create and manage a website.
