Server rejects recipients address

Trying to respond to an email I received so I know the address is correct. I am using my iPhone XR ios 15.3.1.  Getting msg “the server has rejected one of the recipients addresses.” This only happens with certain addresses.  I can respond using my laptop so I think it’s a problem with my account setup on the iPhone.  I had a very hard time setting up and getting the email to work at all on this phone. I am not tech savvy at all.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

Thanks for the question about the server rejecting recipient email addresses.  If you are seeing some emails succeeding and others getting screened, then it is most likely an issue at the server and not at your phone.

One of the most common things that servers do is screen for spam and this can also include email domains/addresses that are blacklisted.

First thing is to review any emails being sent back to you when your emails are rejected.  There is typically a "bounce-back email" that explains why an email cannot be get through that is generated by the email server.

If the bounce-back email isn't helping, then your best bet is to contact the administrator of the destination server and ask for an explanation of why those email addresses are not getting through.  You can also request that they be whitelisted.  These actions will be up to the administrator (or email admin) to review and provide access.

If you're wondering why some emails get flagged as spam, please review our article on How do I stop my emails from being labeled as spam?

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest Regards,
